Ok, this is a question my friend asked me and its so mind bobbling. Do not change the facts at all.

3 guys walk into a hotel, the clerk says a room costs 30 dollars. The 3 guys all put 10 dollars each for the room. Later on, the bellboy/girl realizes that the room is only 25 dollars. So he takes 5 dollars and goes to their room. On his way there, he wonders how to give them the money equally. He decides to give them a dollar each so they only pay 9 dollars and keeps 2 for himself. So if they all paided 9, and theres 3 of them, thats 27 dollars, and if the bellboy/girl keeps 2 dollars, that equals only 29 dollars. Where's the last dollar of the 30?

    Any answers or comments?

The answer is that he kept out of the 25 dollars two dollars. Therefore, you should not add the two to 27, you should subtract it.

Yeah, it's not "subtract 3 from 30 to get 27, then add 2 to get 29." It's actually "add 3 to 25 to get 28, then add 2 to get 30." I heard this riddle over and over again through the years. The sneaky part is that the riddle tricks you into thinking each person paid 9 bucks each, which is NOT the case. Remember, the real price of the room was 25, not 27. So actually each guy paid 8.33 each.

Yeah.. I remember that one. Someone showed it to me last year in Social Studies class. It took me a while to figure it out. I kept on focusing on the 9 Dollars without thinking of anything else..
