One of the popular American ones these days is Fred Gallagher (aka Piro), with his art site fredart studios and his MegaTokyo webcomic. His drawing style (for both websites) seems to like rounded heads for most of the characters, with small eyes set far apart, and simple noses/mouths. I'm sure someone else can tell us where Fred got his inspiration from, but he sure does have a unique style that's easy for people to recognize.

Graham Murray has another unique style for his webcomic Fistful of Benevolence. It's rich in dark pencil shading, yet sketchy, so it gives a sort of warm, "fuzzy" feeling. Indeed if you read it, Fistful of Benevolence has a lot of emotions going on, even though there's fantasy and perhaps magical fighting.
