    Hey people :)

I found this website a reaaaally long time ago and the guy who runs it doesnt seem to update any longer. :( But still, its a must see for us manga and nippon fans!! ^-^
    It has:

    1. Drawing lessons (like hands, feet, fe/males, facial expressions, hair, folds and a lot more)
    2. Gallery of his own drawings
    3. Japanese lessons for Katakana & Hirigana
    4. What is life like in Japan?

The webmaster lives and works in Kobuchi / Japan and has very interesting things to tell about the life and people in Japan. :) Take a look at the fotos too. i loved the ones of him in the karaoke bar or in his tiny lil flat. :D he works for Microsoft now and draws computer game graphics. really cool

EDIT: ok now that i posted this i am going to add two websites which might be interesting for you as well.

Art by Feng. this guy's drawings are better than anything i have seen on the internet so far. There are several different galleries, like "Creatures", "Characters" and "Vehicles". They all left me like ---> ---> :glazed:
Hes really incredibly good. I recommend taking a look at the frog studies for example. there are some drawing tutorials on that page too, but they are not for beginners as far as i can tell
    Anime Karaoke Bar - self-explanatory :)

i hope you find the tutorials and galleries somewhat useful :)

The tutorials are only good if you're aiming for an animerican style.. aka a mixup of american and japanese comic style.
I use polykarbon only for the CG tutorials but never for the character drawing.
Besides he took most of his "how to draw figures" and such form original HTDM books...
    i'd rather suggest http://www.howtodrawmanga.com/tutorial/tutorial.html

Both webpages seem great...but you can't always go with other peoples styles...everyone has their own ya'know...

What about drawing classes at university? Do those students go with their teachers' styles?

There are things like proporsions and physical laws (->folds) that are universally valid, no matter your style. like that michelangelo sketch of the human body.

Well, when I posted that comment I didnt say about the universal laws of anime drawing...Im pretty sure to draw good anime, someone doesnt always have to go through so many steps ...to draw a hand for example.

I still disagree with advanced anime tutorials. All i recommend you learn is the construction of the head, and the basic stick figure to form the pose.

After that its much better to just go your own way; even just copying other pictures is better than copying tutorials.

It's difficult to develop a style you can call your own when you've learned through study of another.

Release yourself from conformity; learn the style of "no-style".

For further random quotes, go grab Bruce Lee's book :p

I concur with Mr. Pig! ^-^ It's always better to just sort of- teach yourself, and learn what looks good and is best for yourself.
