Art Ooh... Characters for my comic!

I'm gonna do a comic strip! Right now I'm slowly building up my characters' personalities and looks, as well as compiling dialogues for each comic strip.

These preliminary drawings should give you an idea of what my characters are like. But, they won't look like this in the actual comic, cuz it'll be in a simpler style (without pencil shading, cuz it'll be inked), and smaller too. So basically the characters will look more like their super-deformed versions (I included a few tiny ones).

Basically the story is about these college peeps in Hawaii and the stuff they go thru. Since I'm gonna have college students read it, I'm gonna talk about stuff they can relate to, as well as some softcore adult/dating humor. (Cuz sex sells!) :dizzy2:

"Finish" da comic strip? :dizzy: Comic strips never end! Heheheh, well, I think you mean the first comic strip. It's no good to rush it... I had to put lots of thought into getting the dialogue spliced up into the right sections so it'll fit into 4 tiny panels. :anger: 6x2 inches is the room I have!

Yeah, the text on this character sheet is really small cuz I resized the whole thing. The original scan is around 1000 pixels tall!

 

Cool. I was hoping I could find more people willing to do comic strips. Is this going to be daily?

 

Daily? :dizzy: I wish I was that proficient! Most likely one a week for now (and I haven't finished the first one yet. So far I only have enough dialogues for about 10 strips.

I skipped working on the "first" comic, cuz I got stuck on how to set up the characters in those tiny spaces. And yesterday I saw something that inspired me to make the "second" comic strip, and I did a rough draft! Now I just gotta redraw it onto better paper (as in, white paper rather than lined-paper!).

Holy crap! I did not notice that. He's using subliminal messaging to sell his stuff! Well... not really. :sweat: Guess I just need to wear my glasses more.

 

Well, you know me. I'm about as subtle as an axe murder.

 

He gets horny a lot... or should I say, it's self-explanatory (along with his shirt!). Sorry you all can't read the words next to him, since that would have explained things better. It says "Kaipo, 21, easily freaked out, easily excited. Has no specialty so he takes all kinds of classes. Goes out with lots of girls." Actually he's nothing to be especially scared of, since college is full of those kinds of guys! (So he's one of the "normal" characters in the story.) And yes, I did mention in the top post that the comic is geared towards college people (college issues, dating, adult humor). I've seen comic strips done by students here that have "suggestive" material once in a while.

Ciel, yeah there's kind of an innocent feel to the comic if you take the innocent characters' standpoint. There actually will be lots of cute stories too.
