Backround info on me first:

I am in the National Guard in NJ. I am also a huge TF fan from when I was a kid.

On Topic:

This is just really stupid. I really don't think this soldier realized what he was doing when he changed his name.
The War in Iraq is a war that is super televised. Soldiers can't chew a piece of gum without a reporter up their ***.

This can only be trouble. Think of the backlash if this soldier is killed (God forbid).
The Headlines the next morning would read "Autobot Leader Killed in Iraq."

This would impact a lot of little kids who look up to these cartoon heros. Does anyone remember how the children reacted when they killed off Prime in the TF movie.
And doesn't Hasbro have something to say about someone using one of their trademarks like this.

The War is no place for this to be happening. This is a serious time and this guy should have realized this before he had his name changed.

 

He wasnt doing it for fun or a laugh. He did it because he's friggin nuts and a huge fan of TF. And do you honestly think it would get headlines? No, it would get a small blurb on a sidebar, if anything.

 

It would make the headlines because reporters write to sell papers and headlines are the biggest attraction to buying said paper.
