  1. I have ordered the new version of The Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink
Floyd, which has been redone for SACD stereo, and in 5.1 for
    compatible DVD Video players:

(or cheaper here if you are in the UK:

As it is a similar vintage to Tomita's analogue work, I am looking
forward to hearing it. I don't have a SACD player though, so I'm
going to miss out on the ultra-high quality stereo.

Unlike Tomita's disc I'm sure you won't get surround from a regular DVD
    player though,

    It says "SACD-compatible DVD players"

So I guess if you don't have one you'll just be listening to it plain
    old stereo

The strategy of SACD was they could make a disc that plays plain stereo
on anyone's gear and then does something special on an SACD player.

DVD-A's strategy was to not be CD compatible at all but instead deliver
lower res multichannel audio on a plain DVD player (which also folds the
mix on the fly to 2-ch in hardware for those connecting their DVD to a
stereo or headphones, etc. -- I guess they also could use the PCM audio
capability of DVD video but I've never heard of anyone using it)

    Hi Ben,
I just ordered this disc based on your above link, thanks. $13.49 is a
pretty good price for an SACD.
