Recreation Parenting

I always try and find something different to do with my one year old nephew, who feels like my son because i damn near raise him.little guy never leave my house.

anyway...

I was wondering what everyone else does with their neices, nephew, younger brothers or sisters, sons or Daughters.

hes one years old....what do i look like torturing him...

 

Tbh that isn't the kids faults but the parents if they are spoiled... so don't take it out on the kid. I use to feel that way towards my younger God daughter. I thought how can my oldest be soo left out and the other spoiled. But that isn't her doing tis the parents.
Mine come over and sleep over. we go to the park b/c they don't do much recreational stuff at home. We learn, we play, we eat healthy and grow spiritually. Sometimes they get on my nerves but they are kids. Give them a break. So I tire them out with kick ball. ONe loves to dance which she is giong into ballet from me. and the other loves soccer and I want her to be the next super start in soccer if she wants. I dont like sticking them in front of the tv b/c they do that at home. Talking to them and letting them talk to me to build their social skills along at the park learning to share with other people and interact. when we drive we play lets read what the sign says. They both know they aren't spoiled and they have chores to do, and if they don't then they are in trouble. *shrug* Its their second home and one they want to be in more then theres. ^_^ Tis not fun and games all the time. They love all sorts of music and people. They do what they want as long as its resonable. I love my babies!!!!!!!!!

 

what if the Child can't actually tell you what s/he wants?

 

I think it is very stupid to spoil a child. Me being a spoiled one. I am a good person bla bla bla and will give the world to everyone if i could.. but I am so use to getting things done for me (not that i scream or anything) that to do somethings its tough. Just don't spoil a kid loads and this shouldn't be in recreation. O.O But everyone has their own opinion tbh!

 

since we don't have a parenting forum...

he's still at that stage where paper and eating everything is more fun than toys.

 

my stupid nephew just turned one... anyway, what we usually do is just have staring contests'... and i always win.

well, you can try that, cuz he usually cracks up laughing... but that'll only work for a few seconds.

 

See if you can take him to the park. He may be one but if you both go down the slide together he would enjoy it. My son was once at that age. He hated t.v., toys, or anything like that. Painting was fun for him. If it was that cheap water coloring crap. You can try and read to him. Or just let him play and do what he wants and you watch. I gave up trying to get my son to do things while he was at that age.

 

I take him to the park and to the beach.

i tried slides but he didn't seem to get much joy out of it, he liked sticking his fingers in the sand. i also tried the swings and he's scared of those.

he likes the beach more; the sand, and running away from the water when it washes ashore.

 

Oh man, I feel the same way about my little 3-year old and 7-year old nephews. I love them to pieces... and babysitting them is really good training for being a mom. My bro's in a band, so when he and his wife get back really late at night I make sure they can sleep away in the morning by taking care of the kids. I do pretty much everything.... baths, diapers, reading bedtime stories and playing with them, feeding them, disclipline, taking them to the park and for walks, taking them to the pool. I even drive them places sometimes. And they always reward me with these incredibly adorable drawings. And sometimes bugs of sorts, or flowers...

Your nephew must be a handful, neonoodle... one year olds are still babies and you gotta be sooo careful with them!

 

are have no idea.. hes been getting into everything since he could barely turn over...it got worse when he started to crawl...i have to vacuum everyday so i can get all the stuff off of the floor so he won't try and eat it.

he's always loved water so i give him a bath every morning and night. in the morning just so we can play. he found out there was water in the toilet all the time, and he trys to get to it every chance he gets. the other day my mom had to buy a new phone because he dropped the one we had in the toilet and started laughing about it. he gets sneakier everyday! he learned how to lock the bathroom door so if he runs in there before i can catch him he'll lock it... good thing our bathroom can be unlocked from the outside useing a key... he's tried climbing on the table..which i promtly stoped by putting him in the play pin for five minutes. he didn't like that very much but he doesn't try and climb on it any more. he's smart to lol we put the child safty gates on the kitchen door and he figured out how to unluck it.

he likes to pull the towels out of the towel cabinet... its the only cabinet without child locks...

but thats only the begining...

 

Yikes neonoodle... I admire your patience. But no matter how bad they are they're always cute... usually. You better keep those cabinets out of reach, though. When my one nephew was two, he SOMEHOW climbed super high up, got into the medicine cabinet, and gulped down all these diet pills. He had to get his stomach pumped and was in bad shape...
And one time my older nephew was... tired. And grumpy. And I was dressed and ready to go somewhere, and he took a giant cup of water and poured it all over me. I was so mad at him....

 

for some reason I always end up with taking care of trouble makers (neices and nephews) that intend to break and get into my things alot..like the type annoying and that talk back to you...but when they are like that I'm a really their wicked aunt that puts them in the bathroom with the lights off..but uh..I have to pratically rasie them myself cause their parents don't know what to do when they are behaving bad..kinda pathetic..but oh well..I mostly make them run with me and play hide and seek and scare those little boggers LOL very FUN to do, then they will waste their energy and go to sleep..so yea its mostly like me taking care of them but they have to run everywhere so they can leave me alone... :sweat2: ..I dont like kids..

 

i only have patience because i have to have them, and i love him lol he looks up at me with those little eyes and I melt...

lol im glad i don't have to deal with children that talk back. i'd be so mean.

 

My cousins.. oh boy do I just want to strangle there little necks... These are my moms youngest sisters two boys and one girl.. the girl is in first grade, Ethean is like 4 and the baby which isn't any trouble is like 1 if even that..

( Just so you don't think I am like evil and a child abuser to kids under the age of two everything I am saying is for the older 2 unless I say otherwise)

Well, my cousins are like brats. To make matters better they now live down the road ( but will be moving soon! YAY!!!) So everyday I see them. I usually try and ignore them, but they actually do little things to make me mad... like go up to me a thousand times and ask are you gonna scare us? I will say no, but of course if I start to look at them they will start to cry and act like I am going to cut them to little pieces.. i mean I know I am not the best looking person around, but hey.. I mean I didn't think I looked that bad. . When they ask for the about "insert very large number" I get up talk in this scary voice and chase them around my house! They also like to answer the phone and tell people things.. like today Colleens mom called to see if we left and Jewliah said we left, like one hour before we ever did.. her mom was not happy when it was around time to go and Colleen called home and told her. when I hear them answer the phone.. I will usually grab my cell and call the house and wait for them to pick up and when they do I say there names and like I am comming to get you now " and then there names" ( I know, like I am so mean.. but it did stop them from answering the phone.. for a while at least)
The other day they were trying to sneak my ipod from off the counter.. I think my mp3 player got broke from them doing something to it also.
Like I know, I am a mean cousin, but I am the oldest cousin on that side and need to show them who is the best ever.

My cousin Andrea's kid is like the best kid I have ever seen. He is so sweet.. I don't mind watching him at all. This may be due to the fact I don't see him a whole lot. Like I let him sit in my lap and we went to noggin.com and stuff. He is funny too, like I teach him how to say stuff. ( Nothing bad, just like really long words ( DNA ) and listen to him say it. I taught him the andacona part in Baby Got Back ^__^ I laughed so hard because he would not stop saying it. " My andaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hun" ROFL.. just thinking about it brings me to tears.

I am a nice cousin, I actually told Ethean ( My devil cousin that is 4) that I am his cousin and I would never actually go and try to hurt him, this is after like he is crying for ever because I "looked at him".

 

I just basically pall around with my little brother. Play some video games, read some Manga, all that stuff.

This past summer my father's niece was gone for awhile and for some insane reason she left her baby (less than a year old kind of baby) during my cousin's wedding. Ok everyone knows that during a wedding it is a crazy time especially this wedding. So while everyone was making wedding prepartions I was taking care of that baby. At first it was evident that she didn't like me and just wanted her mother. However, the more she hung out with me the more she became attached. I mean I fed that girl, I cleaned her diaper, i put her to sleep, I gave her medicine when she was sick, I mean that little girl was basically attached to my hip. I felt like a teenager mother. However, not only did she become attached to me, but i also became very much attached to her. I love that little baby and i cannot wait to see her again. Though she probably will forget who I am.
