I updated from Windows Home to Windows Pro 3 days ago, and when I started my computer, it said that several files were damaged on my 160 gb harddrive. I used chkdsk to restore them, and everything was fine.

But tonight the computer said that some other files were damaged on the same harddrive so I did a chkdsk again.

And what happens? The partitions are gone. However, the computer still thinks that the partitions are there, but I can't reach them.

    C:\ - 80gbs (Windows core)
    D:\ - 25gbs (Partition made from 160gb)
    E:\ - 127gbs (Partition made from 160gb)

I was thinking of that during a windows upgrade from home to pro, you had to upgrade alot of drivers for several hardware to function. But this shouldn't effect the harddrives right? One thing that I am focused on is to recover my files...we are talking about alot of things here.

The files are there, but I can't reach them.

I have seen the problem, and all I need is a good, free, recovery program.

I will do any means to get my files back...
