I just started watching this new anime, and so far I like it ^_^x From what I've seen it's about a boy named Ichimura Tetsunosuke who's parents were kileed by a Choshu assassin during(or around) the Bakumatsu. In the first episode Tetsu and his brother join the Shinsengumi so they can track down the man who killed their parents.

If you've watched Rurouni Kenshin Peace Maker takes place just before the time of the Rurouni Kenshin Tsukio Hen OVA, except through the eyes of the Shinsengumi and Tokugawa dynasty. Some of the characters from Kenshin are in Peace Maker Kurogane too, such as Souji Okita(the boy who Saitou told not to fight the Hitokiri at the end of Tsukio Hen). There are also other historical figures too, like Kondo Isami, Harada Sanosuke(the guy who Sano in Rurouni Kenshin was based off of, if you see a similarity there), and I'm sure more will come up. I hope that Saitou Hajime will show up soon ^-^

It would kind of suck if the man who killed Tetsunosuke's parents was Kawakami Gensai(Kenshin). If you are wondering Himura was on the Choshu's side while he was the Hitokiri Battousai.

It's good to have this information looking at PMK through a Kenshin know-it-all's eyes ;) I really like the humour, story and animation of this anime. I'm up to episode 13 right now and I want to know what happens next! the story really turns at this point. poor Suzu.. hehe (character in PeaceMaker Kurogane).

interesting...well for the Choshuu Ishin Shishi *there were several Ishin Provinces such as Satsuma* to be exact there were 4 "great hitokiri" of the period...the most prominent being Hitokiri Gensai. of course the other three have been more than lost in history. hmmm...so...where did you find this anime? i know there was a manga about Saitou called Burai that was published a few years ago...

You'll have to check out AnimeForever, I think they have the fansubs over there.

    I laughed my head off when they introduced Saitou Hajime, he's so different from the RK Saitou.. Actually there are some similarities still there ^_^;

It's kind of funny how at one moment Soujiro Okita can be laughing at one point and then when he goes into battle his whole personality changes into a merciless killer..

    hmmmmm...does he look drasically different?

as for Okita Soushi or Soujirou which ever you prefer although during his days with the Shinsengumi he was known as Soushi...he constantly had a smile on his face and was good with Children...although in battle his smile still appeared his personality was cold and calculating...he was rumored to be the strongest of the Shinsengumi, with his three step pierce which was said to be aimed at both shoulders and the neck as to dibilitate the arms and then kill with a stab through the neck. obviously the Tennen Rishin Ryuu style was created with indoor fighting in mind. the Hirazuki which was the brain child of the second in command Hijikata Toshizo which was a right handed thrust. The katana was gripped in the right and with the kissaki pointed forward. During the Ikedaya raid Okita was said to be in the perfect fighting conditions. While the Ishin Shishi said mostly to have been from Satsuma, wielded the katana in the Dragonfly stance and had problems with the height of the ceiling and the confing spaces of a hallway and tried to take the fight outside but were cut down in the halls...

One more episode to go! Tetsu shocked me. It's a 24 episode show so 23 was a bit bloody.

well, finished watching it a bit ago. I felt it left the show open to a second season.. if it's popular in Japan, then why not? not sure though. Anyways. I wouldnt mind watching a show about Suzu. what do you think?

Oh I've heard alot about this show from other Shinsengumi fans but I don't think a forum for it has been created yet.
Can't wait to watch it.... so does Okita really look girly in this anime? Oh well, I think he's cool either way.
By the way, has he ever been associated with any girl?

there was that ninja girl that worked as a maid/cook in order to spy on them. She had this crush on Okita .. but Okita didn't seem very interested in her. is that what you meant ?

[I believe there isn't a thread about this anime ]
Great Anime !! One of the best I've ever watched ! It's about Tetsunosuke, who joined the Shinsengumi to revenage death of his parents. Great music(op and ed definitely rox!) characters are really cool.

Have someone watched it too ?

Yeah, this anime is nice, I didn't like it that much because there weren't many interesting facts. I didn't see it all because it was licensed, but now I have the whole set in VCDs and I'll rewatch it all over again plus untill the end.

    Akesato?

    Hey,
I have no idea if anyone asked this before or not, but I doubt it.
So,.. Who is the blond woman in the opening theme for Peacemaker? She's seen in the arms of Yamanami Keisuke (just as the theme song says "Uresumi shite iko") and it has her again in the background of the same scene.
I couldn't really find anything about her anywhere on the net, except for one japanese fanart of her which I found through the Google image search, but the link was broken (of course...). I did a bit of a check on Yamanami's background and found out about Akesato, and it seemed to fit that she would be her... but then I saw a screencap of Akesato from later on in the series, and she didn't look a thing like the blond in the OP. Now me, I've only seen four episodes of PMK so far, so I don't know if she's mentioned later on in the series or not, but I'd really like to find out. Anyone able to tell me? Thanks ^_^xxx

You'll meet her in the series, but it will be sort of one of those 'I thought so!' kind of spoilers. So, if you are going to watch the rest of the show, why not wait?
