i just purchased these, perfect blue has a great storyline but the leading characters seem a bit flat.

i havent watched ghost in the shell yet, its the japanese (englis subs) double box set, so hopefully it will be better than perfect blue [IMG]

Hey, new faces! Nice to see you.

When you watch Ghost in the Shell, (again possibly) watch for how much the Matrix is like it. Market scene with watermelons being shot, existential questions, shot up cement pillars bla bla bla. There were some similarities. I thought it was cool.

The ending really wasn't all neatly wrapped up like we'd like endings to be sometimes, but more open. I liked it. It's where imagination comes into play (or frustration) Good movie though IMHO

Its basically an anime about what makes us human. With the main character being a brain in a cybernetic body and the secondary character being a machine with the scan of a brain imprinted into it and basically asking what really is the difference between the two, its a good anime tho its fairly hard on the head in a similar way to Lain

I felt the ending lacked something too, but then I realized why I may not have understood it the way I should have (like Akira) and found that theres so much manga to view to fill you in on places that may not have been understood in the movies.

Then I endeded up liking those movies..(here you go manga fans.. a movie...but man..means if I didnt read the mangas..I should, ne?)

Well alot of people say Ghost was one of the main inspirations for the matrix, I'd agree on some points, its storyline makes it feel like a prequal a view of how the super AI came to being etc etc. I liked it. I watched it with a friend who doesnt watch animes, He was so ****ing confused by the whole thing. I didnt fell that confused...

Ghost in the Shell is extremely cool, how can you complain with U2 doing the closing song? Well, ok, maybe you could complain about some things, but I found the whole premise very intriguing. I'm going to watch it again as soon as I can convince YokoburiKinura to let me borrow the DVD.
