    A young girl faerie of 16 stands alone on a maple leaf, her long red wind blowing gently in the summer breeze, her eyes full of tears. Her fiance had been sent away again, to fight the evil trolls. That faerie was my grandmother.

    Ha Ha Ha that reminds me of Thumbelina :D :D. Okay know I'm serious this story sounds teriffic but dont you think that It would do better if it was about humans not fairys.

    Female teenage protagonists are becoming trite, at least to me. It is possible, however, for you to make it work well.

    I hope you are planning to go somewhere else with this, because if you are I can't say anything else. Oh wait, your topic says "beginning," so there we go. Write more so I can give a decent opinion.
