A hotly-debated topic from what I have heard: Which of you will find it worthwhile to buy Pokemon Advance for the GBA? Tell us why or why not you find it worth buying.

I dont think it's not worth buying.. because it's a pokemon game? But if you like Pokemon, I'm sure it'd be worth buying.

Sad, that people go with the extremely popular, nowadays. So, if Pokemon is a good game, does it mean that just because Yu-Gi-Oh! took over the spot of "most watched daytime anime" that you won't buy it? Sadly, the same thing happened for Suikoden, and the original Wild Arms. People were waiting too much on Final Fantasy and stuff, that these games were overlooked. I'd prefer to say, let's see how the game is, before actually saying anything of it.

I'd say Pokemon games were actually fun. Considering, to me, that I don't actually try and collect EVERY pokemon out there. I wanna see how the new one turns out, actually, since you can use two of 'em critters at a time. ^_^

Agreed. The original pokemon was a fun game! Despite its simplicity and the fact that the 'puzzles' were very very easy, I still had a lot of fun with it.

The games with the Puzzles are Pokemon Gold and Silver, those are not the original. I'm not entirely sure but the first Pokemon games were Pokemon Red And Blue.

I'm referring to Red and Blue, actually. If I recall correctly they had the odd lame little puzzle on how to get from one area to another, like using Cut or some such nonsense.

I thought you meant puzzles literally.. Like the ones in that cave in gold and silver, where you can catch those "Unknowns" Cuz if it's that kind of puzzles it's not in red and blue. I used to stay up late to play these games too ^_^. I played Pokemon games on gameboy for about 3 years in a row and hardly got bored.

I feel more Pokemon games is just prolonging the end of this fad.

There are too many new hits out there now--Pokemon has had it moment in the Spot-light.

One could have said the same thing about Transformers shows, but its experiencing a comeback, as is Robotech, which was pretty dead for a while.

Personally I could care less about the 'fad' status of something, I'd rather have fun than popularity.

That is true too a certain point. Lets face it--Transformers and Robotech are making a come back because they have a strong root following and boys love to see robots battling and blowing things up.

Pokemon is kind being upgraded with Yu Gi Oh and Digemon.
Or, it can be like a bad penny and just keep turning up.

Pah. A plague upon all your brows who have spoken ill of pokemon. The original is a great game. I got it importet from the US, a good halk year before it came to this country, and before all the marketing **** came too. I enjoyed it for what it was, a kick *** game. I went out of my way to "catch 'em all," and to train up several lvl 100s. Not because it was the cool thing to do, but because it was fun. Ye know, like games should be. I don't know anything about it's latest incarnation, but I shall consider buying it. If it's not "in style" to do so anymore, then even better.

I agree the first ones were good. But the newer Pokemon games suck. I stopped playing it and even though I happen to like Yu Gi Oh! alot better, I still agree to the first Pokemon Red and Blue versions. But this is about a brand new one. I feel it is not worth buying new ones.

Okay Pokemon Gold sucks. I have it and I can't even beat the game. Yu GI Oh is like Magic the Gathering. It's with magic and trap cards and monsters. It's alot eaisier to follow then Pokemon at least to me.

Is Mario a fad? Pokemon is all based upon a very well developed game, and if the games continue to be A grade, people will buy them.

Pokemon games created merely because of the craze are Pokemon Yellow, and Crystal, they are basically altered versions of Blue and Red, and Gold and Silver.

The thing about these two main pokemon companion pieces is that they both worked off the original gameboy. This new version works off GBA as far as I know, and because of this we will get more interesting moves, animations, music, and the work.

The game has sold huge in Japan, and it will certianly do well here. And with a secret pokemon game coming out later this year for GameCube, that requires a GBA hook-up, there's no telling where this all may go.

I'd have to agree with Neph and Holly on this. I'm surpised by how people aren't going to buy it just because it is a dying fad. If you ask me, I would have to say that this is one of the most unique games for the gameboy I have ever played. Sure, products like that pocket pikachu and other such additions were merely money-makers that barely added to the game in any given way, but the game itself was a small investment for a lot of replayability. I was surprised by how much strategy there is in such a small game.

As for the difference in the crystal version, the only REAL feature I found unique was the addition of the battle tower that gave it more reason to play the game out longer. If you didn't get gold or silver, get it. If you already have either of the two, don't get it.

If I had a gameboy advance I would buy the new game.

Why? I had lots of fun as well on the games. I beat red and blue with my eyes closed basically, and I did the same with Yellow (could never ctach Mewtwo tho, always killed the little bugger before I could throw the ball.) Gold and Silver, bta them as well, I found them more challenging and more fun. And when Crystal came out I was as happy as I could be, cause now I could be a girl! And it had soem pretty fun new features.
I also played Pokemon Pinball (that sucked) and Pokemon TCG on the Gameboy (THAT was fun).
So I say the new one is worth buying. I wnat to see the new features and you get to be a girl! :D *goes nuts*

Anyone else besides me had a ball anming their pokemon things like Jackass, and about a million other swear words *remembers when she named her rival Jackass, THAT was funny, it was like "You saw this trianer? He gave you his name? What was it?" "Jackass." "Okay, 'll go find Jackass." ROFLMFAO!*

I know what everyone means. I didn't mean it as a "Dying Fad" but what I ment by it is I like it less cuz it's so complicated. I can't even beat the game because it's a whole bunch of puzzles and I can't get to certain places in thet game. That's why I happen to like Yu Gi Oh more. I'm sorry if I offended everyone but I feel this way and it's just an opinion. It's not like it's a fact. So people, if I got you offended, it was not intentionally.
