    Can someone help me understand something?? >.>;;

    Well... I'm not exactly sure it's that... I don't actually remember my question, but... still... I just got it, and I wanna talk about it. *is excited*

    First of all, who else besides me thinks that was... SO SAD!! *cry* I didn't feel so bad for Ryo. Mostly for Izumi and Keiko. *sobsob* I (almost) cried somewhere around there...

    Oh, and, what's with Yuki and Fifi, y'know? The girl never speaks, and yet she comes out and nearly lectures everyone about Fifi... and she's, like, y'know, a great player, too...

    And if I only say one thing, it's this:
    THOSE POOR HIMURO LADIES!!! THEY MUST ENDURE SO MUCH PAIN~!!! *SOBSOBSOB*

    Pain? (looks around furtively and confusedly)

    Oh, you mean Ryo's angst about, well, "Oh, I'm really screwing life up for Izumi just by being around", right?

    But yeah, there is a lot of great emotional upswell there with Izumi feeling like Keiko doesn't love her or her father enough, so I don't know which person undergoes the greatest amount of angst in all this. Probably the Himuros.

    As for Fifi, well, I don't understand either. If Yuki wants to attribute her sports talent to extraterrestrial aid, I'm not going to argue with her. I wouldn't call it a full lecture, but I guess ten words could be considered such for somebody who had said zero words over the whole course of the series before then.

    Yuki's...scary, now that I think about it. She's just standing there. It looks like she's not looking at anything and she catches the ball... Maybe she listens for Fifi's advice... Maybe Fifi has that thing bats have that lets them see in the dark...

    Like I said. She's kinda scary. Cool, but scary...

    Now, as for the Himuros, I'm actually conducting an analysis... (Silly, since I only have the first two discs, but what can I say? It's me) See, I think Keiko loves Izumi more than she herself realizes, but just doesn't exactly know how to express it. To Izumi, the obvious thing is that she comes off as just another lady ordering her around. "[...] Mommy said I should practice, but my hands hurt so much! [...]" If you try to make out the entire scene, I can see the roots of Izumi's grief. (Poor child) As for which of the two is suffering more, haha... That one's hard... That whole allegory about the canary in a cage...

    When you think about it, the dub sort of mangled that. (Then again, if you think about it more, it's pretty much the same thing said in another way... But still...) Izumi just says there's a barrier between them that she wants to break. Dub Izumi says that she wants to get her mother's attention... (Not really much of a difference, but every time I'm watching it I just feel the difference... I am not insane... I am not insane...^^) Dub Keiko gives in to a more pained emotional sphere... The voice tone says it all. Then again, maybe original Keiko does the same thing... But the voice tone doesn't seem to indicate that. Dub Keiko's "That's not true" sounds like a pained "That's not true!!" whereas original Keiko's sounds like an angry "That's not true".

    I should shut up now... I'm starting to scare myself... ^^;; >.>;;

    Well, hmm. Either Yuki's a magnet, or, maybe some wierd teleportation ability. But wait, this isn't sci-fi! Extraordinary luck, or extraordinarily good reading of the batters. In Volume 3, we do see her have to go for a ball and do a little roll before the throw, so we do see she's a good athlete and not just watched over by a little doll she carries around.

    Keiko is a really reserved person. She has an easier time expressing determination or strong aggressive feelings than she does softer emotions. About the most tender facial expression we get from her is when Ryo's talking about her dad in her interview.

    I've only watched the first two episodes dubbed, but I did catch the 'canary cage difference' in episode 2. Your comparing of the two is really well done. It brings up some interesting points.

    Edit: had to make sure it was clear that I've seen 13 subbed, 2 dubbed - accidentally left out 'dubbed' first time.

    :blush: Aw... ^_^; I'm glad it made sense. (I think) that's what I'm here for. ^^

    Yeah, I've seen the shots of Yuki running around. ^^; It's really funny in the first volume, where she's just staring out the window.

    I think every character has scary points...but if I may say so, Keiko looked almost happy when she fell asleep. (I'm in funny mode, so it may sound stupid...^^) I mean, it's eerie. I think that kinda set off Izumi's anger more. Think about it: Your dad's dead. Your mother's asleep. You find a locket of hers. You see the picture inside the locket. It's some guy you don't know. You look at your mother. She's almost smiling. Tell me you wouldn't feel peeved about that... (My first reaction was, "She looks almost angelic". That's a plot bunny getting to me~)

    *sigh* I could go on...but...Marhl pulled the thoughts away and is taunting me with throwing them off a cliff... ^^;

    Hikaru wears bloomers. ^^;; She's so cute~

    Now I see what you mean. Seeing how her mother feels about this unknown man in the expression on her face would provoke a great sense of jealousy or even betrayal. So, yeah, I'd probably be peeved.

    Marhl: *sigh* Here she goes again...

    ^^; I just had this thought pop into my head a while back and I wanted to share it with you...

    Poor Izumi. She must feel like her world is falling apart. The boy she likes all but said he didn't really want to be with her. Then she finds out (and makes the deduction that) her mother still loves some dead guy who isn't her (Izumi's) father, and brings in his daughter for a baseball scholarship. Then Izumi runs through all the memories of how she grew up, possibly not getting all that affection a mother usually offers her children/child/what-have-you, and is being extremely defensive about the baseball team, which has everything to do with her old lover, who, mind you, is not her (Izumi's) father, and realizes that her mother is being more...motherly, shall we say, to that girl, when it should be her who gets her mother's undying support. (But she doesn't realize that she has it, because her mother is every bit as stubborn as her, and vice-versa) And THEN the new girl, who just happens to be that guy's daughter, is getting all the attention from the guy she (Izumi) really really likes...

    Poor Izumi. ^^; (Just going through all the things that could go on in her head...don't mind me...)

    Geez. I really got into that...>.>;; ^^;;;
