Sorry to bother y'all with technical details, but how exactly is the title pronounced? I've heard several versions.

It's pronounced the same way you say these three words:

eve, angle, leon

say it quickly and you'll get it... [IMG]

Don't they pronounce it "Eve-van-gell-ee-on" in the Japanese version?

I take it on good authority (the pronunciation on the S²Works disks in the eyecatch tracks) that Evangelion is pronounced: E va n ge li o n anybody here who's taken Japanese, the title is printed in standard romanization.
E- as in the letter 'A'
va- this 'a' is pronounced 'ah'
n- self explanitory, just 'n'
ge- the 'e' is prononced as the letter 'A' again, the 'g' is not pronounced like as in 'gel' but as the 'g' in 'gun'
li- some confusion arises with this one, as the sound of this one is in between 'li' and 'ri' (again, anyone who's taken Japanese, or watched a lot of Anime is familiar with this sound) it's pronounced like the name 'Lee' but with no extended vowel at the end
o- not like the letter 'O' but like the 'o' in 'son'
n- once again, self explanitory
Japanese classes are cool!

Will probably get somebody harassing me about how I explained this, just go find a Japanese teaching site, and they'll have the sounds there, I separated them into their respective mora with standard romanization, so they'll be easy to look up sound files for. I think www.kanjistep.com has some.

*optimistic* Hey does it matter how you pronounce the name? Look at the bright side of life... YOu can say it in any way you like... Every one pronounces it in their unique way... IT's like when you told me about sterotypes in one of the posts... You don't have to look at it as good or bad...

*SKuld is really baka right know, so pwese excuse her :p sweat drop! [IMG] [IMG]*

I think you may be on to something there. Pronunciation is even less relevant over here because I'm probably the only one in this worthless pit that would know what I mean no matter how I say it.
