The Playstation Portable will cost quite a bit and the battery will last a suprisingly short time. I am still getting one. Just don't buy the first run.

    Source.

4-6 hours? And add on wi-fi draining on top of that... figure 2-3 hours :(

It's battery is awful. With such a huge neg like that, it better have amazing games or its toast.

Unless they come out with some sort of peripheral, then I'd say it will need to be played whioe it's plugged in an ac/dc converter.

    I still want one though.

Doesn't having to stay plugged in for extended periods in order to get a good gaming session in sort of defeat the purpose of a portable system?

Almost entirely, yes. But I would be willing to bet they already have something to extend battery life developed, but will wait to make more money.

Add another battery (which will probably be released a month or so after PSP releases)

    Add a car-adaptor

Add a bigger memory stick to support the VAIO-like portal-interface for more movies, music, saved games. (MemoryStick Pro Duo's are pretty much Memory Sticks + SD cards...and the same goes for the price)

And what do you get? 300+ bucks.

And I had heard that the launch of the PSP actually was 200 or some "lower" number when released in Japan?

Hell, if SEGA Sports is doing it...why can't Sony? =P

It looks cool, but the battery time will change, trust me. Kinda like when Nokia realised N-Gage. The first one that came out sucked so much that after 4-5 months, a new N-gage was out.

But it didn't save Nokia with it's N-gage flop. Anyhow, I will get a PSP, but I will wait untill Sony fixed the bugs.

If you go here, you can find Canadian Tire's selection of Power Packs, which are portable, and provide the power you'd need. Perhaps these could be the solution. (If you don't mind steep prices)

    Nope. They won't fix it.

"Kutaragi was unapologetic about the issue: "This is the design that we came up with. There may be people that complain about its usability, but that's something which users and game software developers will have to adapt to.""
