just wondering does anyone play them as much as i would. tough generally id play them at lans and not on the net. and does anyone still play quakeworld, in my opinion the greatest multiplayer fps ever. i dont know if this topic has been brought up before but i never see any remarks been made to them, even though counterstrike is the most played fps online at the momenrt. And of course q3 is very popular as well.

I've only played Quake once or twice, and didn't like FPS games all that much back then. Then, CounterStrike I got really into because most my friends kept playing it and having DSL at home didn't really mean anything but fast downloads anymore (it was before I joined M2A!). So, I tried it out and got hooked.

I do play at home because my cable connection is fast enough to allow me to. I don't play as much as I used to, probably because it's just funner at LAN's and Gaming places.

I pretty much play now, just to keep up some skill...at least when I'm playing at home.

Do people still play Quake? 'Cuz if they do, it sounds fun to play it again. Or maybe even Tribes! That looks like...err...yummy destruction of massive proportions. Until then though, just give me an AK and I'll be happy :D.

I constantly play Quake 3 Arena, and Unreal Tournament once in a while (Can't wait til Unreal Tournament 2003 is released) I used to play Counter Strike but being boot several times I quit playing that (Stupid 56k) Quakeworld, didn't know that was still around, I love the original Quake, graphics my be outdated, but its still superb then it's sequels (Best damn Rocket Laucher that's why). Also Tribes, but Tribes 2 wasn't too good (Well it was good, but comparing it to Tribes, then it can't compete) so thats gone.

But the most Anticipated FPS' I'm wait for are:
    -Unreal 2
    -Unreal Tournament 2003
    -Doom III
    -Quake IV

i love playing quakeworld because its a really fast playing game,
also as you said the rocket launcher was perfect, (the reason quake 2 never got off the ground was because it had a crap rl)
its harder to get good at it then counterstrike, as you really
have to keep playing or your skillz will go to crap. never really got into unreal, didnt really like it. theres only relly a few hard core players who play quakeworld these days. theres nothing much more satisfying then getting quad, full armour and a rocket launcher and running into a room full of players.

One other thing great about Quake was the Grenade Launcher, I love that sound. *ping**ping**ping**BOOM* and the Super Nail gun.

Ah there nothing better than running into a room full of hardcore players equipped with a Rocket Launcher, Quad Damage, Full Armor, and 200 Health.

To any FPS fans: When The Hell is Team Fortress 2 going to be Released?

Hummm... QuakeWorld... four shades of brown and the RL (best weapon ever)! I used to play QW Clan Arena and Team Fortress regularly most nights up until 2am. Running around DM3 or 2fort5r, spamming and fragging anything that moved. There is one advantage to playin QW nowadays - because of the games age, you'll usually find mostly either the hardcore or long-time devotees on public servers. Most matches will usually consist of players interested in playing the game instead of acting the muppet and so forth (anyway all the muppets have moved to CS and Q3 *cough* ;)).

With the massive following CS has accumulated and the inevitable CS2, i can't really see TF2 ever seeing the light of day.

Oh and you'll be surprised by the number of ex-qw players out there, in fact once upon a time a certain Mister Cloud(-Warrior) played for an Irish QW clan called GI.

team fortress two has officially been vaporware for at least 2 years.. I think it is even deader than Duke Nukem Forever.

My favourite FPS for multiplayer action is Unreal Tournament. The weapons are just slightly different, and require a tiny bit of thought. It's a blast. Quake has always been nothing but brown for me. The only reason I have it is so I can play Quake 3 rally, and so I can look at all the cool models ofrom polycount in-game (such as Eva unit 1, ryoko, etc)

to be honest i never really thought much of unreal, (poor mans quake as i call it), the new one coming out hopefully ill like a lot more, and your absolutey right, izer, what makes it great to hop on to barrysworld for a few hours quake is theres none of the bulls**t, every ones there just to play, and youll rarely if ever see anyone complaining about losing.

I see Unreal as a newbies First Person Shooter. The only reason I played it (A gave it a little better rating than Quake 3 Arena) is that it had better initial mods than Q3A, and everyone I know don't know jack **** about FPS' and When I played them on Q3A, I kicked their asses and it gets boring, UT on the other hand, they had a chance because the game was so ****ing slow, and not fast-paced as Q3A. Of course I got used to it, and UT became one of my top 10 FPS. (The alternative fire is what really got my liking of UT)
