Recreation Question about the show "X files"

i know its gone past its whole "oh its the best show ever" stage but when i did happen like that i hated it...but now that im actually bothering to watch it ive fallen in love with the show. anyway, my question pertains to Mulder. as in what happened to him. i missed like a week of the show when i plays on late nights and suddenly theres this new guy in the X Files division and Mulder's gone. so basicly i havent the slightest clue what happened to Mulder....could someone explain?

I'm fairly certain he didn't die. I'm not entirely sure what happened, as I happened to find the show kinda boring, so I only caught a few glimpses when my parents and siblings watched it. If I remember that particular episode, all you know is that he disappears, and that what really happened is revealed later.

in the opening to the later episodes you see him falling into a black hole that turns out to be an eye...

 

If you watched the show (like I did) then you see that the gets abducted by aliens. :dizzy2: and experimented on. The new guy is Scully's new partner who doesn't beleive in all that weird stuff. The person who saw Mulder last was the head of the X-Files division while they were both in the woods moments before he was taken. All he saw was this bright light in the sky and Mulder could no longer be found.
