Trigun Question Needs Answering

Ok, Vash is a cyborg, thus he cannot age, so why is it his body aged from when he was a child in space wanting to know what Earth was like?

I just always wondered and now seemed the perfect time to ask. The question is open to anyone who has a theory or knows the answer, I am open to anything.

Vash is NOT a cyborg; he is, like Knives, another life-form that is capable of aging, however does-so at a much, much, much slower rate than everyone else. All those little robotic things you see on him are due to his injuries over times. It'd be like calling Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop a cyborg because he had his arm and leg replaced.

Are Vash and Knives related to the plants that power the cities? Several times Vash has talked to, or stopped the plants from blowing up. And I think I remember Knives referring to the plants as "brothers" ....Im not quite sure though...I will have to find that out...
