Square Enix Question: What next?

    Okay, I'm almost done with FF7. (I just need to get everyone's limit breaks/Ultimate weapons and a gold chocobo so I can get KoTR materia... wow that sounded nerdy LOL ^_^v). Thanks to a used game store near my apartment, I now own the followinig:

    FF5
    FF6
    FF8
    aaaand
    FF9

    Which one should I play next? I'm kinda leaning towards eight, maybe because the character designs in 9 don't do much for me. But what do you guys think?

    I liked VIII. It was easy when you learn how to play and play to kill, but I liked it. Triple Triad makes for a lot of dead time gameplay...but gathering important items and spells are really disgustingly hard. And frustratingly time consuming.

    get 8 out of your system while the interest is there. 8 has a neat story, BUT the fighting system is what drags everyone way from it. it's interesting in only the fact that it makes you move thru the game quickly. ya see, the enemies level up with you...so, the lower your level the better. and the higher the gf's the better...

    Yeah, they may have a point. FF8 was real flashy n' schtuff, but the system leave's much to be desired...not a very difficult game either...

    FF5 - Might wanna get a little more FF experience first...this one is one of the *toughest* titles in the series...

    FF6 - Maa...not too bad, a favorite of many...I dunno...it's hard to say.

    FF9 - My fave...no more comments.


    Basically, whatever one seems to be most interesting to you at the time...you don't want to play another FF and think of the other one the whole time....

    6, I really really love.

    5... is untested ground for me. I have the ROM but Im not gonna play till I get some other games outta the way. But apparently its really good, and really hard.

    Either the redone 4, the redone 5, or Nine...8 was trash. 6 was pretty good.

    I agree. It's freaking hard, a LOT of bad guys have instant kills....skill building takes up more time than level building...but you also get the MOST versatile characters...even though they all die a lot and you end up using a lot of magic points in any fight.

    But, I actually like VIII. It's easy, but I like it. Sue me. LOL. Wait, don't...I only have 3 bucks in my wallet. On second though, DO sue me, it'll be good to get me out of class...especially for three bucks. :D

    Get 8 and 9 out of the way. I personally disliked them the most out of all the games. Characters in 8 were alright, but other wise, didn't appeal to me. 9 was just all around horrible. 6, although not my favorite, is without a doubt a great game, and 5, once you get more experienced, can be loads of fun with the Class Change system it has. I vote for saving 5 and 6 for last, get the Soap Opera (VIII) and Nickelodeon Cartoon (IX) out of the way first.

    Id have to say go with FF9 cuz it has a really great story and it is the most entertaining of all the FF's on your list. If FFx were on your list Id recommend playing that because that one has a very similar effect of keeping your eyes glued to the tv set for many hours.

    I'd advise against getting IX. I think it's better to play that after playing the old ones. I don't think you should get V yet either, it's not the best and it's pretty hard. VI is brilliant, it's probably the most popular so you wouldn't do bad to get that, but I think VIII is the one you should get. It's got probably the worst fighting system out of any of the FFs, but the story and the FMVs and everything about it more than make up for this. It's an epic and I think it has some of the greatest individual moments out of any game ever. Not to mention the best intro ever. "I'll be here..."

    Thanks guys and gals :). I think I've made a choice (actually owns v-ix because she's obsessive like that and having way too much fun with her PS). It's either gonna be eight or six next... but I'm having some problems breeding a green chocobo, so who knows how long seven will take to finish. *sigh* The stuff I'll put myself through for a kick butt summons...

    If you're having trouble getting a Chocobo of a certain colour and you have all the needed birds at the correct classes, just save outside the ranch when they're ready to breed and if you don't get the desired colour, just reset and try again. It'll eventualy work.

    I say go with Final Fantasy 8 next to get it out of the way and then go into the other games... but if you want a game that compares to FF7 then go with 6. Final Fantasy 6 has a lot of cool characters and Setzer and Mog in that game rock!

    But I'm really ticked at the main villain for well quite a few things he does :(

    Firstly, yes that is spam, as it is not related to the present discussion in the thread.
    Secondly, yes there is a FFXI, it is an online game. I believe it's been released in japan on PS2, ableit with a lot of trouble. It's possible it will only appear on the PC due to the problems the nihonjin have faced with the console version.
