Welcome to the Anime/Manga Reviews forum!

This is the place to play critic and give your own personal opinion about anime or manga that you've had the pleasure (or pain) of watching.

This forum will be more heavily moderated than most here on boards.jp, the first stipulation being that all new threads will not appear until the moderators find it fitting for approval. We're looking for well thought-out, constructive reviews, as they are far more useful to readers than the alternative.

There is no set template or format to follow, so feel free to review with your own devised scales for ratings or even just textual impressions.

Reviews that aren't well put together may be edited or even denied altogether. Do your best to ensure that you have made an effort to make your review a valuable addition to the boards. Also be sure to proofread and avoid spoilers.

Replies are currently open to members without restriction. Ensure that replies are constructive and contribute to the review. The moderators will not hold back with negative karma and deletion for postings that clutter this forum. If the situation gets out of hand, replies will be more heavily restricted.

Multiple reviews of the same content are allowable by differing users. All reviews will be catalogued to make things easier to access for the reading audience.

I think that's it. Get out there and review stuff!

Is this restricted strictly to Anime & Manga, or can you branch out into music, books, films etc?
Or maybe just Asian films if not anything else?

For the time being, it will be restricted to Anime & Manga. It may very well branch into more general items if it meets with success. I know we've had a number of video game, movies, and musical reviews.

That seems like a good format to me, what do youa all think? Anyway, I like the fact that this forum isn't restricted to what you can review (if that's what we have agreed on). Moderation descriptions on this forum is starting to scare me just a tad. Maybe you could be a little laid back at first?

I don't like to follow a format at all. It feels restrictive, and the way I write a review makes it a lot harder to write it to a particular style. I like to just talk about a series until I feel I've said everything important, and doing that works so much better than following a format, for me.

So, for what it's worth, I'd not want to see any kind of forced format, so I'm glad BMS decided to keep it without one. :)

For those that know me, I am very laid back. It will take every ounce of strength I have to keep myself from being too leniant on this particular board. The strictness will remain for now, as this is a forum that deserves to be clean for its real usefulness to shine. It's not as bad as I made it out to seem - think more along the lines of how Debates is kept together by Bloodberry. To be honest, this new version is more open than our previous Reviews forum was - it was restricted to mods only for new threads.

Shiome, I opened with saying it's open format, so your own version is perfectly acceptable. Review how you want to review.

Okay, sorry about not reading, that I just wanted to know if it was acceptable. I am glad its acceptable.

I also would like to a dd, that maybe you could set up a feature, that when a user makes X amount of reviews, the user won't be bothered by the moderation of posts thing.

I don't believe that's possible, but it's a nice idea. Ehh, just means you have to keep putting your best effort in all the time instead of just at first. :p

I impose we rate the thread. It would help some plus we would use that feature.

Only way an excellent would come out of me is if both the storyline and opinion were great.

So its our own style review, or is BJP going to have a set review form, so its always the same?

Very true. The more rating a thread gets, means that the Review was indeed more fair, and gives a better look at the rating.

Also, as said, the formats should be free to everyone.
Even if it's possible, just because one writes many reviews, doesn't mean that they are all good written.

So far, this Forum is going great, and it should keep this way. Of course, as it's popularity continues to grow, it should be expanded into three main groups:

    *Anime and Manga
    *Movies
    *Games

But of course, that should be for the future.

Nope. Anyone is free to post any any review on any anime/manga they wish. Anyone from the newest member to the oldest Admin can submit a review. BMS and I will review all entries and hand select which ones we're going to include on the master list.

Even though BMS stated that there are no set templates to create a review per say, I would still like all entries to include the title of the anime, a brief overview describing what it's about (sans possible spoilers, please) and a personal opinion based upon the postee's expirience with said anime/manga. You can add as much as you want, but for an entry to be seriously considered you should include at least all three of those topics.

If you see someone else's review and would like to submit your own for the same title, feel free to post it in it's own thread for our review. Just because someone posted a review before you did does not mean that particular anime/manga is off limits. What one person may like, someone else might not. Multiple reviews about the same anime shed light on all its sides and gives a viewer a more rounded, less biased view into which ever anime/manga they're interested in.

    Have fun, and good luck.

    ~W
