Yes its true. Aside from being an anime fan, I'm also sort of a fan of 19th century science fiction, and I recently read a book that really pulled me in, after seeing how Rahxephon had refered to it so much. Theres this old book called "The Lost Continent of MU" by a British Colonel to India named James Churchward. It's about a 25,000 year old civiliazation called the MU, who's homeland, which was the origin of mankind, mysteriously disappeared. They were protected by giant Angel (not refering to Eva) like beings with supernatural abilities called "Dorems" who's weapons resembled ancient artifacts, but also attacked with song. This blew my mind, just having watched Rahxephon. Anyway, any thoughts?

It's really interesting to hear about this novel. About the closest that I was able to get was some speculation about Aztec elements in some of the design and other bits. For example, in Newtype-USA the Ishitori character gets spelled 'Ixtli', which turns out to be like an Aztec word meaning 'face' which

    ***Spoilers on***

makes sense because of how she looks different to different people in the latter episodes, taking a different face for Quon than for Ayato.

    ***Spoliers off***

I may need to go see if I can find this novel. Thanks for the info!

ya thank u so much for the info. I knew Rah was deep but not as deep as that. It's so amazing the thought and effort put into some anime storylines. I'm going to look for this book as well. ^__^

Mu is referenced also in the Illusion of Gaia series for the SNES and Nintendo.

It doesn't play as important a part as in Rah, but it's also there.

I'm glad to know that someone else picked up on it. However, I didn't see it in Rah's light as you did. I just thought it was a great anime series. ^_^

i honestly think it's why i like the show so much. have always had a thing for old mysteries, and well, the lost civilazation of mu has always been neat. it's right up there with the cities of cold and atlantis for me heh. *^-^*
it's really neat tho how the old myth and the modern world are worked together for rah. *^-^*
