I haven't read the manga on the matter, but it doesn't seem so, it looks like Wolfwood was entrusted to Chapel's care. Wolfwood was an orphan.

    Nice Pic, BTW

That's what I thought, but at the same time I seem to remember somebody mentioning that Chapel was like an uncle to him. Maybe Chapel himself said that he felt like Wolfwood's uncle? *shrugs*

    Dammit, Chapel!

    And thanks ^^.

    More spoilers and speculation.

Caine was only in the anime but in the manga Wolfwood is Chapel the Evergreen. Or at least, so it appears during the first round of 'what's the real story with this mysterious Wolfwood guy' stuff. The other Gung-Ho Guns certainly think he's Chapel.

At the moment I'm not sure what's supposed to have really happened, because my access to the manga is fragmentary. I suspect that Wolfwood is supposed to have killed or disabled the real Chapel, from the organisation 'The Eye of Michael', in order to assume his identity and plot against Knives.

I may have the wrong end of the stick here in a big way.:D

No, I've checked. Wolfwood did fill the original Chapel, also known as 'Trip of Death', full of lead as part of a plot against Knives. Whether he was trying to kill or maim isn't quite clear.

So...I can't remmeber all of this but I'm pretty sure this is what happens...SPOILERS!

Like when Legato has destroyed like a large gang of people, and the otehr Gung-Ho Gun's are there, Legato asks the Saxaphone-ist where Chapel is...and the Sax. guy replies he's late, or he's doing something. And well Chapel is Wolfwood....Well cause you can just tell cause the other guy that tries to attack and kill Wolfwood was his mentor I believe, or a father/uncle.

Anyways...I'm pretty sure that's the idea.
