If I had to pick one artist to recomend it would be Devin Townsend.

Whether it's Prog rock or metal of the heaviest kind. He's got it all.

    The guy's a genius.
For his heaviest work check out Strapping Young Lad.
His solo albums are all very different.

Also, go listen to Iced Earth. Great stuff.

Yeah, check out the Pillows, they are great!
I seem to be getting a bit hooked on Five Iron Frenzy now too... "My Evil Plan To Save The World" by them is very catchy ;)

They seem to be like Heavy metal, and they have a lot of remakes to songs as well... I came across them looking for rock mixes of church music (I got in a strange mood and just decided to look it up). So I found "Awesome God", but I like My Evil Plan to Save the World more, I should try dl'ing more of their songs...

it seems that guy described five iron frenzy. did you mean the pillows?

if so: the pillows are rock. Have been around for 10 years with 10 albums, each one different. Sometimes they sound like the Beatles, sometimes like Weezer, occasionally like Oasis, sometimes a but punk.. it is all very good. Can't recommend a song, as my personal favourite doesn't match anyone else's :p

    My reccomendations would be:
    Pantera(metal)
    Megadeth(metal)
    Overkill(metal)
    Death(metal)
    Slayer(metal)
    Black Sabbath(classic metal)
    Rollins Band(alt. rock)
    The Pillows(alt. rock)
I wouldn't really describe the pillows as like oasis, although some of their songs are. Their style seems to vary greatly from song to song. I'd reccomend Advice, which is punkish(the FLCL arrange version is cool aswell if you like guitar solo's), Ride On Shooting Star, which is like rock, Hybrid Rainbows which is kind of alt, and Subhuman which is sort of like alt. rock. They'd probably be my favourite songs anyway, but they have plenty other good ones.

Err, I like a lot of AFI's stuff. "The Days of Phoenix" is one of my top ten punk, easy.

Some of Pennywise and Less than Jake too. They're good stuff.

Other than them, I don't really listen to much "band" music, other than a few songs. Do the Seatbelts from Cowboy Bebop count though? I like a lot of the stuff they do.
