I was wondering, has anyone here actually played the Escaflowne PSX game - or, failing that, can anyone read Japanese and translate something for me? (Scans of the game manual, specifically.) See, there's a character from the game called Refina, and I'm really interested in anything factual about her, but information's pretty thin.

What I do know is that Refina is a Zaibach soldier, and a guymelef pilot. I've also heard that she has a crush on Dilandau, but whether that's true or just fandom, I'm not sure. I don't think the rumors that she's supposed to be a Dragonslayer are accurate, her armor is more similar to Dilandau's (which makes me think she's a captain).

What I really want to know is this: What is Refina's rank, or who does she serve under or lead? What is her role in the game's plot? Also, does her guymelef have a specific name?

I've attached a pic of her, scanned from one of the Esca artbooks, for reference.

now you've got me wanting to know more about her. i've always wanted to get the Escaflowne PSX game, but knowing that it's all in Japanese makes me think that i can't really get all the fun out of it. also it would probably make the game a lot more harder. another thing to add is that i don't have a playstation system. heh, luckily, i'm get a ps2 system this friday. hmm, Dilandau? is the game still good even though it's all in Japanese? maybe i should get it...if it ever shows up on Ebay again....and after i go to the anime convention in Toronto :sweat2: geez, i'm gonna be broke.

I honestly don't know. ^^; I actually bought the game on eBay a few months ago, but of course, you have to modchip your PSX/PS2 to play import games - so I bought it primarily as a collector's item. I know one person who said that she didn't find it interesting, but I can't say how accurate her opinion is because she didn't elaborate on what she disliked about it. *shrug*
