Well today someone gave me some bad karma that I thought was pretty funny. Apparently this person thought I wasn't 'tactful' enough in my first post on the "Cure for Homosexual" thread.

Webster says that 'tact' means- A: "Sensitive mental or aesthetic perception" or B: "a keen sense of what to do or say in order to maintain good relations with others or avoid offense."

I think this person (whom I will call user X) was referring to number B (that's right, not letter- number). I think user X also missed the whole point of that post. When half the board was wallowing in their self-absorbed hypocrisy you want me to be 'tactful'. I was upset, making an upsetting reply designed to rap a few people gently between their ears. It's nice that we're all trying to be P.C. and defending the little guy but there's a point where we need to stop and make sure that we haven't become the thing we despise- that we're not preaching the same things we try to defend against.

Now I know that they didn't mean any harm and some of my basic assumptions were wrong (Yes, I admit it- I was wrong on a few points. There goes my credibility, :dizzy2: ) but I was still a little irked at how easily we forget that there are two sides to every story, and that the victim can just as easily become the assailant.

Something else that people tend to forget is that everyone is different. People are raised differently, they have different ideals and beliefs, they even have morals and standards. As a result there's always going to be a conflict of ideals.

All that I ask is for a little continuity. If you believe in the freedom to be straight or gay, and that neither choice is a wrong choice, then don't preach that ideal out one side of your mouth while damming those who are homosexual trying to become straight. It's a natural, knee-jerk reaction in today

*sniff* such a lovely entry... Now I feel guilty for buying anime. I should have bought toys so that I could donate them to toys for tots... I feel so selfish... even if I was planning to do that later, I still feel guilty.
