    I've got issues 0 and 1, and so far, I'm really lovin' em.

    Issue 2 is on hold for me, so in a couple weeks I'll have that (and probably #3 by the time I get there), and I cant wait to read 'em!

    They're really well done and have a very nice look to em.

    Are they basing the comics after the macross (or the other) sagas? Or are they making up a new story?

    Its a sort of prequel happening just as the SDF-1 hit Earth.

    Actually, I think the story is set after the return to Earth and everything... Roy Fokker is long dead, Rick Hunter is no longer on the SDF-1... Minnmay is gone... But I'm not sure if Rick is married yet. You find most of this out in Episode 2... Episodes 0-2 are just flashbacks I think. Like when Roy and Rick where still in Pop Hunter's flying circus. I think...
    For those of you who haven't looked at the comics yet... they don't really look much like anime/manga... infact, they really don't look much like Robotech... the characters I mean. Good story though. :)

    0 is a spin-off. 1 is about when the SDF-1 crashed on Earth. (10 years ago from the start of Macross Saga) :)

    Correct.

    Actually, in Issue 0, its set just a bit after Robotech: Battlecry (the game, not the episode). You can see the YF-1R, and its in Wolf Squadron.:)

    I said 'set when the SDF-1 hit Earth' because the majority of it so far is told then... and frankly Im loving it so far.

    It may or it may not be Jack Archer.



    *SPOILER ALERT*

    At the end of Battlecry, Jack is carried into deep space (near Jupiter!) in a fold. After you beat the end boss, you see a final cinematic. Jacks air is getting thin, and he spends his last moments talking about how he hoped he made a positive difference. His final words are 'The Future looks so bright...' and as he says that, a bright light fills the screen, and you can see what looks to be the SDF-1 (pre-crash) or SDF-3. If its the pre-crash SDF-1 then he died, and its a metaphor for hope from death. If its something else, something real, then I have no idea if he lived or not. Of course this is all assuming that comic takes place after Battlecry (which Im assuming it does, since they're testing the YF-4). I really can't say whether or not its Jack Archer.
