I noticed something interesting though trivial. Has anyone seen any
Tomita studio pics with both his System 700 un-block mounted modules and
his large quantity of System 100m racks in the same picture? Maybe
he traded them in for the 100m or Roland asked for them back (or even
Roland not wanting him to show off their old gear).

Also while the picture in Daphnis et Chloe (Bolero) isn't clear, the
Roland modular at the top looks more like a System 100M which was then
current but contrary to what John and Ben's site (and where ever he got
that list). I make this I.D. on the basis of the 100M having a lot of
jacks at the bottoms of modules along with a bottom row of multiples.
Also the sliders are light colored unlike the 700 with just a painted
line on the dark sliders. The top row definitely has light sliders, the
bottom row definitely has a lot of jacks at the bottom where they
    wouldn't be on a
    700. But of course that gear list might be true and the picture was
taken after he finished and presumably removed the 700 modules.

BTW the 700 came out in 4/76 but he was in on the development and the
100M came out 11/78, don't know if he worked on it

Why I get the showing off gear for Roland notion in the is he did an an
interview for Sound and Recording about Bach Fantasy. He's not in his
studio but is seen sporting just a JP-8000 virtual synth and a Mac.
Maybe the article explains it. It gives you the impression that that was
his main synth, which of course isn't true. The impression may be
intentional that he keeps up with the latest Roland gear

If you look in the Bach Fantasy Quicktime pictures the he still has his
Moogs (not the Roland virtual) but nothing else vintage (like the Roland
modulars) and no sign of his high end digital gear either. For gear
followers, he did freely admit that he used a lot of samples of his gear
to produce polyphony from his modular sounds on that album.

    Intersting.

The modules at the top do vaugely look like system 100m modules.
I have a system 100m modular synth myself, but like you say, it is very
difficult to see in the photo what it is.
On my CD copy of Daphnis et Chloe, there is an instrument listing for the
    album.
The system 100m is not mentioned, only system 700.

    Regards,
    Lance.
