What kind of philosophy: Western, contemporary, logic, ethics, or something else? I would think that they would start you off with Plato and the ancient greek philosophers. Here are all of the Platonic Dialogues for you to start off with: http://classics.mit.edu/Plato/. But, I don't know if you should really start reading them quite yet. It's easy to get lost reading philosophical works and it's best to hear your teacher's interpretation of it.. If you don't want to wait then keep an open mind and watch out how you interpret things.

I'm not sure what we'll be deciding. The Philosophy teacher was the teacher i just had this past school yr. for U.S. History and he is finalizing what he'll be teaching us over this summer. He wouldn't tell us anything else though. since he's such an awesome teacher everyone in his u.s. history class (he only had one u.s. history class) signed up for philosophy.

Wow, what an opportunity Athena! :) I really wish I could do the same, but unfortunately my (soon to be) highschool only offers that class for seniors, so I have a good few years before I can enroll. Be sure to post about some of the curriculum, I'm awfully curious about what all's being taught ^_^

Will do Kagome Arrow's. I'm about to be a senior and mr. C. is making philosophy an elective so anyone can take it. That's what cool about Mr. C.... but like i said earlier this is going to be the first yr its offered.

I hope this doesn't sound too harsh, but why are you posting this under Philosophy? I mean, right, philosophy class in school, mm-hmm. Thas just great, but . . . Ok, rant done. Sorry. Anyway, ask again when you know what type of philosophy you'll be studying. Until then, a suggestion. If it's religious, Hugh Nibley. He's awesome. Have a dictionary with you when reading, though. :p
