Ok. This has been something I have been working on for some time. The image is of Kiribati Island, East of Hawaii. Also known as 'Fanny Island'.
The medium is Acrylic on 34x24 canvas. The width of the canvas goes from foot to past waist.

So I took piccys every step of the way since it was fun. You can tell I don't have a talent for picture taking... well at least my own work.
Step number one was really the quick pencil sketch on the canvas..
    Step 2
3 and 4 have a cup showing. I need to find that cup. I lost it. .. I painted on the floor in my room..so maybe its under the bed! o.0
    Step 3
    Step 4
I started adding darker colours. With oils and acrylics people tend to add the dark colours first and add the lights later, but I'm stuck on watercolour mentality. Still works.
    Step 5
    Step 6
I stopped at the Step 6 point for months. Then I started back up. I realised the sky was a bit too dark for what I wanted. So .. I changed it. It's funny but every step after 6, I thought I'd be screwing up the painting to a 'point of no return' piece of crap.
    Step 7
I started working for hours on the palm trees.
    Step 8
    Step 9
I went in and put in better details in the bushes, especially the one at the farthest point of the island. I also lightened up some of the water on the right.
    Step 10
I added lighter highlights to all the lower bushes and the ones farther away on the left.
    Step 11
    just a few more details..
    Step 12
    finals:
    Step 13
uncut version since I don't have a tripod for even pictures:
    Final

Okay! Well comments, crits? Anyways I hope you like. I just wanted to share!

Wow! What I love the most about this painting is the sky and the trees. They're very detailed and very realistic!

I've never been to Hawaii, so I'm not sure about the colours for the house and the canoe, but it looks good to me!

Nice job :D . It was great to see the different stages of the painting too, makes me want to start using my acrylics again.

How long did this take you?

    Thank you so much ^___^
    Kaz: Thank you very much!
Meaikoh: the cabin is a weird colour like that. I thought it neat:)
Saber: ya the branch is a bit weird onthe tree, but I may add a bit of green/branch part to make the branch look like its not growing out on a weird angle.
Feena: go out and paint hehe, thanks
Iya: hmm.. I can't really say if I didn't stop and painted it, about a week. but I didn't have that kind of concentration this time around. so it took me months with looong breaks. Thanks ^^

I hope to do some more painting. I haven't been very productive.

:dizzy2: Wish I could do even the outlines to that setting. Need to learn how to draw them if I'm ever to attempt drawing a manga. Settings are way beyond me. :( Excellent work by the way. :)

Excellent job! I'm dazzled by your work. I'm have never been and I doubt I ever will be, able to paint. XD I’m quite jealous. Is this a hobby? Profession?

The only thing that looked a little weird to me was the hut. . It looked lopsided or something. Like you tilted it to much to go with the curve/slant of the island. But I don’t think it’s a biggie. Every thing looks amazing regardless. Nice job, keep it up!

ya.. it looks a bit crooked.. really more so in the digital picture I took then the original. can't scan that thing LOL. but this place was a ragged old shack. It's more of a hobby.. I tend to give paintings as presents though..

thank you all for the comments and crits :)

Thanks UFO and AsIaNgUrL, I really loved how the water turned out as well in the painting. and I found my original green cup! still caked with some paint too.. I'm happy people like the pics I took. It was hard getting it to stay even and I had to crop many of the images. ^____^
