Azumanga Daioh
High school - those few years of your life where your future hinges on your successes and failures. Azumanga Daioh is a light-hearted storytelling of the slices of life and a comical look at these wonder years from the standpoint of a circle of friends made up of:

Chiyo, the ten year old child prodigy with detachable hair.
Sakaki, the quiet, athletic one, who is mysteriously drawn to cats.
Yomi, the "normal" one, who sometimes lets out her bottled rage.
Osaka, the transfer student, who frequently spaces out.
Tomo, the loose cannon, who will challenge anyone, anywhere.
Kagura, the athletic tomboy, and self-declared rival of Sakaki.

It doesn't help that even some of the teaching staff has its problems. Yukari is the fun-loving irresponsible one that hasn't fully grown up. And Kimura is the perverted teacher who openly admits his love of high school girls.

The story develops in short segues that move things along in a quick pace, but also developing the characters overall. Many of the gags are recurring, but everything comes together in a nice tapestry of humour, and even gets emotional as graduation day draws near...
