Neon Genesis Evangelion Shini and Kaworu a couple?

Hmm... well I was watching NGE episode 24, and I was at the 'bathtub' scence. When Kaworu said, "I love you," to Shinji, I began to wonder if the two were kinda, you know, a couple?

There are many arguments on the net that they are a couple or they are NOT a couple... What do you think...

Personally I think Kaworu loves Shinji, my little bit of proof being when Kaworu let Shinji crush him into a bloody pulp (and his head went 'POP!' and fell into the water...)

 

Well, they weren't actualy a couple. Kaworu did love Shinji, I think, and Shinji did have feelings for him(the line between hetro and homosexuality is a little less distinct in japan, so this sort of thing would not be uncommon). If Shinji didn't have to kill Kaworu, they probably would've become a couple. It prooves how much Shinji cared about him, seeing as it was this that caused Shinji to be what he was in the Eva films, ie. a total wreck.

Being gay shouldn't really be considered wrong. If I see any overly homophobic crap here, I'll take serious action.

In Japan it's pretty much normal... it's part of their history! Look at some of the literature and anime! HOLY SH*T. Although there's homophobes everywhere, I find North America is the worst place in the world for it, as we're overly steryotypical (how do you spell that!?) and not too accepting sometimes of things that are forgein to us.

i personally don't think that Shinji is gay, there is proof in the movie when he jerks off to Asuka when her top comes off, he is probably just bisexual, Kaworu on the other hand i believe is homosexual.

 

Well... just think of it like this:
Gay means happy.
Gay also means happy in another way. ^^
Gay people don't even have rights all over America...

Fundamentalists are annoying to no end -__-; I have some at my school and even the smallest topic like abortion gets their motor running and since half the things they say contradict the other half, it gets really really annoying... and living in California, one of the most liberal states, they usually get their butts kicked

But uhh yes, Shinji and Kaworu, I have nothing against them as a couple, I think it's kind of cute XD On a more serious note, I agree completely with what Raven said.

 

the whole series of NGE is based on a sect of the Judism religion called kaballah. many things in the series portray something from the religion. Kaworu for example was portrayed as Christ. Christ is supposed to love everything! including shinji.

You're right, they do contradict themselves. My religion teacher was like that. He was raggin on to us girls about how we should stay pure and not get involved in relationships, then said, "When I was your age, I had numerous girlfriends."

Anyway... I think Shinji and Kaworu luff each other. And I think it's kawaii!

 

My teacher was just as bad. She's a college student and she was constantly telling us about her dates and thongs and stuff of the sort in class... I don't think there's a single class where she stayed on track...

Kaworu is Jesus... I never would have thought of it like that... I guess it makes sense though... hahha it makes a lot of sense! ...In my head o_o

Uh... No, this is just plain wrong. Anno Hideaki said himself that he found western relegions interesting, so he just kind of pick and mixed. There is certainly some judism, probably kaballah, but they are common to many relegions. I doubt Kaworu is meant to be Christ, if only because he is an Angel and therefore an enemy of humanity. Although, I will admit there are similarities; his self-sacrifice, his kindness, the way he walked on water, the other crap. But still I say no, still I say he was gay. And he had no beard either.

I think Raven is wrong.
I don't think Kauro is gay.
Because Lilins have the tendese to be homosexual or not.
And Kauro is an Angel, so he can't be gay.
