It was the sweet surrender that seemed to spread over the girl that made her breathe catch as she stood blissfully unaware of the situation at hand, her eyes fluttering ever so slightly as a thick darkness spread over the plain. She felt like she was falling, moving somewhat upward into an ever present sky and yet, she couldn’t see anything but the obsidian blanket that had covered them where they stood. Not just her, but so many others that seemed as oblivious to their plight as she for this was enthralling; Completely intoxicating yet dangerous.

The danger was unannounced, mostly unknown and yet still noted in the back of their minds. Beams of light shot down from the heavens and they all gathered closer together in the rapture the frightening illumination brought. What was this light that spilled so unearthly over them, a subtle thing that shattered their illusions of reality and verity to bring doubt into their hearts?

A gentle, almost magnetic pull seemed to grab the girl at mid torso level, harnessing her into her fate. She didn’t struggle, still dumbstruck by the event as her body slowly lifted towards the steadily streaking lights. They dimmed in quiet embrace of her it seemed, she thought, when in actuality her eyes had merely been overwhelmed and slightly blinded by them in her ascension to the top. The top being the obvious cause of the halogens that stole her vision; Massive airships like dark zephyrs on the horizon.

She didn’t doubt the crowd below couldn’t make them out, far too much of a glare from their level of sight to make anything out to any extent. She shivered in the grasp that cradled her, her lips twitching in awe and shock and something else. Something that hadn’t shown before this event, like hours before when she’d merely be drawn happily to the small hill that sat in the middle of the vast pasture. It was heinous and liberating, mixing more elements in it’s making then she cared to base much thought on. It was pure and unbridled fear, a feeling in the pit of her stomach that clawed and moaned, urging her to allow it some sort of release.

Taking a small breathe while her throat could only seem to tighten, she screamed. She didn’t just scream, but she kicked violently, jerking her body as best she could against the strength of her restraints while those watched below, still dazed by the scene that was playing out. She was at an angle then where she was able to see the mass of people below, see their size beginning to dissipate with her height, almost unseen as she let out one roar of a yell and then, was gone.

This was the first act of aggression, the first sign of ill will. This was the end for us all, and the beginning of full scale invasion.
