I finally bought book 7 of the Sailor Moon manga and read the end of the Sailor Moon R story ark.

I wasn't to crazy about the manga version of R, but it just kept getting better! The final climatic ending was so moving, I didn't know what to do. Pluto's ultimate sacrifice to save the people she loved was the most powerful moment in the Sailor Moon manga. It hit me alot harder than Mamoru and Usagi's death, this was totaly unexspected. This has officially moved Pluto up to #2 in my favorite senshi list, under only Makoto herself!

    But she comes back!!!

I couldn't believe it. Her heroic death seemed to lose some of its luster when I learned that Naoko brought her back in a few issues (I bought the first few books of S too).

Quite frankly, I would have prefered she remained dead. I think that bringing her back, weakens her character.

    Thoughts?

    You can't leave Pluto dead.

First off, that would mess with the whole SM "thing" - no one really dies unhapily except the baka schmucks who try to take over the world.

Also, Pluto has that whole mistique thing going for her. Her character is too impressive to kill. Now, if she's dead, it's interesting, moving &c., but darnit, she has to team up w/ Uranus and Neptune still.

She is the guardian of time

You must figure that there are ways to cheat time and death. Since she knows so much about time itself then she would have the ability to loop time and make it so that when she finally does die once and for every death she has looped will happen to her all at once. So it will happen, but she has put it off until later. The down side is that everytime she does it will make it much worse in the end. Imagine a hundred deaths all at once, in a way she is sacrficing herself to the worst death possible, with pain beyond imagining, for her friends.:(

I hate to say this but.. the senshi have always come back.... so I wasn't surprised when Pluto did
The senshi are most powerful together and if one is gone... their power is not as strong.....
    So Pluto should be there

well if pluto didn't come back that would ruin the story. I mean in the end of the stars-the idea of hope for the future, freindship overcomes chaos and the sailors can still live the life they already know together...if pluto truely died then that would destroy the whole meaning of sailor moon entirely.

Agreeing with just about everyone else here, none of the "good guys" ever die in Sailor Moon. Look at Stars for the ultimate evidence of this. Everything gets reborn...

    Ah but their deaths in the Star Manga were so touching, except Mercury and Jupiter. You think Takeuchi would've at least made their deaths more dramatic or have them go on about somthing noble before like Minako and Rei, (phoebos and deimos! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!) And Lethe and Mnenosye (can not speel the firggin' name, grrr!!!!) ;_;

Well, I haven't read all of the manga yet so....

But there have been other converstations about maybe there's mor than one Pluto, because there's like a big paradox if you lok closely about her, if she's susposed to be guarding time then why is she....? You understand?

Also, Takeuchi probably didn't expect people to want MORE of Sailor Moon after that, so she never did think of bringign back Pluto at first, thinking, this is it, I'm doen with SM, I'll end it off with Pluto dieing dramatically. Too bad, so sad, for Naoko, no breakies for her. :D

everyone knows that SM would bring everyone back somehow.. just in Stars it was more dramatic and better than the rest of the battles.

Ok my take on this *****Spoiler********

Well I don't think it is really a spoiler but not to take a chance, anyway, I always thought that that was because the future Pluto is the one guiding the Gates of Time, which I think works when you look at Stars(well I am working from the manga, I haven't rewatched my episodes in awhile, plan to do that soon though) and since there is a future version of all the sailors in the Crystal Millenium. And you have the reborn Pluto of the current time on earth.

Anyone else have a thought on that?

If Pluto stayed dead, that would've sucked and ruined the series.

    Plus she's my favorite character.

Oh and yeah I always assumed when Pluto was reborn into the present, her future self was reborn too. And she's the one who guards the time gates. Because you do see her in two places at once in Stars and that's not possible. :glazed:

Of course the anime never explained who watched the gate when she came in S...

No reason to double post ;) - Sorcy

I always thought there were two Plutos, because of the fatc her orb was different in the R anime, but then I learned Toei just made an animation mistake. :p Stupid People. :D

This may sound a little confusing but this is how I figured the whole Pluto thing, based on the manga, anyway!

Pluto's gate of time exists in a place between time, but Pluto dies in the future, so up until the future, Pluto's gate is guarded. However, because of her ability not to belong to any time period, she is actually reborn in the present, before she first died. The reasons she can stay in the present are because her 'before she died' self is guarding the gate, and also because the gate is between time, so she is technically not existing in the same time-period twice! Clever, huh? :dizzy2:

Personaly Sailor Pluto had to much going for her. She had to stay alive to guard the gate in the future But the truth is this....... Sailor Pluto died with everyone else and transported to the future. She was hidden by the powers of time and made to work as a sciencetist. When the Garnet orb appeared to her all her mermories where returned to her. This is when she joins the Sailor Senshi in the past. The future Version of Sailor Pluto was reborn and sent back to protect the gate of time. But of course there has to be a twist..... past Sailor Pluto while gaining her mermories also knew her future mermories.... this is why she says she came from the future even though this is he past self.

I am the biggest Sailor Pluto/Setsuna Meiou fan i have ever met. If you have anyother way of explaining Sailor Pluto i would love to hear it. Not trying to sound all up on myself.
