Art Signature Art Thread

Heya, all! I've been lurking hereabouts for quite some time, but this is my first post in the Art/Design forum. A rather big one, too. ^_^ In any case, let me get to the gist of this post...

Notice that the thread title is "Signature Art Thread". Well, it's just what it says; this is a thread for signature art. What this thread is not is a signature request thread; there's one for that, and this isn't it. What this thread is is a place for those who just love making sigs for fun. The sigs posted here are not the product of any requests, and requests of any kind will not be heeded. If you really, really want someone to make you a sig, either PM him or her or make a request at the appropriate Request Thread provided in this forum.

The rules for this thread are simple: Post your sigs here in any way that you want, as long as it complies with the rules of this forum. Do it through attachments, hyperlinks, or embedded images—whatever you're comfortable with. Of course, all posted sigs must also comply with forum rules. I encourage everyone to post their sig-making attempts and not to be shy about it, even if it's your first try. We're all budding artists here, and I do believe that sig-making is an art in itself. What we do requires creativity as much as sketching or painting.

Comments on the various sigs showcased here are welcome, of course, but always be sure to keep within the bounds of courtesy. The sigs posted here are not for public use unless the artist says so. If you see a sig that you'd like to use, ask the artist's permission first and, if he or she agrees, be certain to give credit where credit is due. Let's all be civilized about this, shall we?

Now, for the siggies. But first, a little background. ^_^

These sigs were created after being inspired by a week-long anime marathon. I tried many things anime-related after that event, fic-writing and fanart being a few. But fanfics take a long time, and I haven't even scratched the surface of the story I'm writing. I also found that I unfortunately am a miserable sketch artist, which rather surprised me since I used to be, if not good, at least adequate. And then I started to tinker with Photoshop. I've had a sort of on-again, off-again relationship with Photoshop, but I've never really gotten the hang of it... until the day I sat down and created my first sig. I've taken off since then and I now have 7 anime-based sigs to my name.

You might notice that all the sigs are 300*100 in size. Well, the reason is that I mistakenly took that to be the size limit, and it wasn't until later that I discovered that it was actually 300*125. Anyway, I decided to keep the current size just to be consistent—and I rather liked it's compactness. Even so, at maximum quality, the file size was still too big. I had to lower the quality a bit to stay inside the limits, which concerned me a bit, but fortunately the sigs' look wasn't affected too much.

One more note: all of my sigs are up for grabs. I won't be able to use all of them at the same time, anyway, so I don't mind others using them. BUT... I do require that before you do, you ask my permission first and that when it is given, you give me a little credit when you use it, even if it's a single line like: "Sig made by C-chan". That's a small price to pay for the amount of effort I put into making them. ^_^

Hey, you know what's great? I found a way to optimize image quality without having a huge file size. Wai! All my sigs are now optimized at maximum quality — and are only 20k or less in size! Isn't Photoshop great? ^_^

Meanwhile, I've got two new sigs! Look for them at the bottom of this post. ^_^

Um, I believe I made it clear that this is not a request thread. Any request should be made either through private message or through the appropriate sig request thread. In any case, since I went ahead and made one anyway, I guess I'll let this pass... for now. Next time, please make your requests through the mediums I suggested.

these are all really good!!! I wish I could make good banners...but I cant make them to well..I dont have Photoshop..I have MGI photosuite...lol...so yah..C-Chan...can you make a banner with Legato on it?? Thankies! Ill post some of the banners I have made on here when I get home...LATER!!

Well, i used Paint Shop Pro and a plugin i bought from alein skin.

 

i want to show you guys my signitures and for me its really pwitty! ...unfortunately we have to reset the friggin' comp!:sad: stupid comp! but i dont blame the computer since its also my fault^_^ anyways i'm trying to make new sigs right now

The one you see in my sig is my first time trying a program that wasn't Microsoft Image Composer. It was very very scary... and I don't like it AT ALL.

Boy, I betcha this seems pretty random...

How do you create a sig? I mean, I don't care if it's good or not, just how? I've been trying to figure it out and, well, I've not had success.

Also, where do you people find these pictures? I'd love to know. Sorry, just really interested and whatnot, so yeah.

 

I personally dont know how to say "How to make a sig.", but i get the majority of my images off of Google image search and linked sites in anime pages.
