Okay, has anyone ever seen this flick? I Just got done watching it.. it was rather goofy but at the same time was pretty good (and rather interesting and original)

Anyways, here's how it goes: (Really, not really any spoilers considering all this info is detailed on the synopsis on the back of the DVD :p)

It takes place in a post-apocalyptic time, after Communists dropped bombs on America in the 1950's and the entire country was over-run by Russians. The only safe-haven in the land is the city of Lost Vegas which was established by the King, Elvis; but alas, the great Elvis hath falling so all the "rock 'n' rollers" in the lands are being called forth to see who will make it to Lost Vegas first to claim the throne.

The main character is Buddy (a rough-tough, bad-*** version of Buddy Holly, suit, shoes, glasses and all) who parades around with a hollow six-string guitar and a rather nifty looking katana and he's setting out to get to Lost Vegas (but gets a bit side-tracked when he happens upon an orphan boy who insists upon following him).

So now Buddy has to ditch the kid and make his way to Lost Vegas to become the new King Of Rock 'n' Roll, while fending off Death/Top Hat and his minions (whom, also, is trying to claim King-ship over Lost Vegas... to destroy it, of course).

A very, very strange film indeed, where all the "rock 'n' rollers" are sword wielders (for the most part; Buddy has the sheath of his katana duct-taped to the back of his guitar which is pretty nifty looking :p) and, Hell, y'gotta love crazed, bad-***, American-samurai adaptations of a famed guitarist killing Communists and Russians and cannibals and mercenaries and doing battles with Death himself. :p

I'll give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who has heard of this movie. I saw it a few years ago, I'm not sure how long exactly, and I loved it. But then again, what's not to love about a katana wielding Buddy Holly? I never did get to see the end, though. I've finally managed to track down a copy of it in a video rental place and I'm going to rewatch it over the summer.

strange film. I enjoyed it for the most part, even though the kid annoyed the heck outta me.

It did manage to give me a slight arbitrary weirdness headache, like Mystery Men, Cabin Boy, Wizard of Oz, or Spirited Away, but it was fun.
