I just got a copy of Saber Marionette J Battle sabers, I would like to know, how the heck do you play this? I don't know any controls, but I got the main function of it, but I can't seem to do any special moves or the ultra-super move using the bar. can you tell me the move if you know how to play?

Lucky You! As far as I can tell, this game is nearly impossible to find....

Oh, how I am feeling envious right at this moment. :p I've never even had the chance to play it...the closest I've gotten was a video capture of the title screen and demo play...

And I'm such a fan of both fighters AND SMJ....wahh!

You lucky bastard. If I ever find out where you live, I'm going to steal that off you. That game is like at the top of my wish list. Grrrr.
Can't help you with the gameplay though.
    Lucky ****.

Well actually I had no trouble finding this copy on Yahoo! (c) auction. of course this because the guy who sold it sold burnt versions not the actual japanese factory made version.

and one thing is I don't think this game is worth spending 50 dollars + s&h, its so repetitive. Same old ending, and only 9 characters.

    SPOILER:

Well I guess I could be optimistic about one thing.
You do see Tamasaburo hitting on Otaru.

If you don't mind a copied version of this game. once in a while the guy I bought from sells 10 copies of it for 5.00 dollars each which includes s+h. Look for him on yahoo auction.

Of course if you want the actual version, can't help you there.

and stardust yes, I ain't kidding. but...

LOL@ spoiler as Hanagata proceeds to bash his head against the nearest wall.

Oh, I see this game auctioned on ebay pretty frequently. Sadly, I don't have any sort of game system (I'm a poor writer), so I've never thought of buying it.

I've wanted it, but I'm just not an auction sort of person...

As for the game system limitation...mine wouldn't run it without any modifications...but a computer and an emulator are my eventual plan (for I *will* get a copy someday, mark my words!)

I actually did find a friend of mine who had this, so I managed to get a copy. Kinda weird the way they switch parts like that, eh? It just seemed, kiddy-like, cheesy, and off-the-wall... but, hey, it's the only currently existing SMJ game out there...

Now about those moves...figured any out yet, sweets? :D

I don't if you know this or not but if you do back to forward I think high punch or kick all the characters do some special movie, but still it's fairly weak move. As for the hyper moves, I still have no clue on how to execute them.

Oh and you can only aquire Baiko and Tamasaburo by using the cheat, what most sites don't tell you is that to get Baiko and Tamasaburo and the 2 extra two extra parts, you have to press the code 3 times.

    R2, L2, R1, L1 3x in the part selection screen --- two extra parts
L1, R1, L2, R2 3x in the character selection screen --- acquire Baiko and Tamasaburo.

Baiko and Tamasaburo has an adventage over all the other marionettes in default settings. They automatically have two parts selected, thus they have a total of 4 parts, while the other marionettes can only have 2, of course you can go to the option menu and change the number of parts able to be selected.

This is such a cheap game, and I feel sorry for anyone who bought this game, and paid over 15 dollars, It has no replay value, same ending no matter what setting you play it in, and the characters stink. They should have made it like Tekken and with more characters.

I'm starting to sound like that thread I made about the pro's and cons of this game.

Which I set to 0 every time I play. Those overly huge fists and feet drive me nuts...

I agree that it was poorly done, and I'd have loved to see a Capcom style 2D game over what it was...with a larger character base too. But then again, I don't think it was ever a high budget game.

The original music in it kicks, though. :)
