What is it about them? Wufei blowing up a barracks in the middle of the night? Quatre and his almost feminine gentle speech? Heero and Trowa for their absolute lack of emotion? The only one I find myself liking at all is Duo..
Then there's Relena... 'Come kill me Heero! I'm right here!'
I find myself more prone to cheer for Noin and Zechs... they seem a whole lot deeper and more real to me...

I want to know why you like the GW boys, if you do.. they say another perspective on any opinion reveals much... so let's hear your perspectives!

Heh, I'd have to say I agree with you there, UK...

Wufei - so narrow-minded..."I must get stronger", "you're too weak to bother with", and so on...

Quatre - so wimpy, I'm almost tempted to think things about his "preferences"...

Heero - so machine-like...yeesh, he's like the Terminator without all those cool lines...

Trowa - I can never really find much to say about him...he's bland.

I found myself in quite your shoes there, Kei-kun...Zechs, Noin, and well...even Lady Une became the side that interested me more...they had personalities that really drove their side of the story...while the G-Wing team had...well, Duo.

I'm not enticing flames either, and I once again seal this post with the Baka's Seal of Opinion. Nothing here is fact, it's just my personal outlook and doesn't mean a thing.

Well to take a more objective view of gundam wing . De Lads are only a catylist for the situation in which Noin, Trieze and chiefly Zechs and Relena exist in . Ie: theyre the real stars , I mean the GW boys . No plot development no background info , no nothing ...all they ever do is go around and cut up Oz Mobile suits

Noin and Charze are far more interesting ,especially at the start as Oz officers coming to terms with whats happening etc. And Trieze as he takes the evil route for the greater good and his motivations etc.

Another reason you mightnt be able to connect with the GW boyz is because in the end of the day , GW isnt very good, at least in comparison to other Gundams anyhow :)

    I strongly disagree with everybody's posts!

In my belief, the character development is brilliant! True, the pilots are only pawns of the greater power but there really is more to them. Although it's exagerated (greatly), the characters' struggles can be related to our everyday battles! The way you see these characters at a first glance is only their outer shells. Heero and Trowa seem so hard and distant because they hide who they are! They are tormented inside by it, but they can't let it show. It is also totally hypocritical of you to say that u can't like Heero and Trowa because they have no feelings, but you can't like Quatre because he does have feelings!?!? Just because Quatre does not feel the need to hide what he thinks, he has to take responsibility, he has to be the adult! He fails miserably at it sometimes. There is another side to Quatre. There are things that set him off. He goes psycho sometimes and thinks the world would be perfect if everyone were dead except for himself. Duo is the joker, the lovable one. He has a dark side to himself, too. Wu Fei has a weird past. He was brought up in a different society than the other pilots. He was raised in a traditional chinese family, forced into an arranged marriage, then he felt he was repsonsible for his 14 year old wife's death. He was taught the main principle in life is justice (hence the obsession). You have to remember thes boys are not adults they are adolescents! They are already going through a difficult time, piled with a torn and chaotic society, they all have tragic pasts and forced into doing something kids should never be expected to do-fight for capable adults who are just sitting on their butts and watching them on the TV! Back to the Heero and Trowa thing, if u were in a situation like this do you think it would be easier to be a faceless, emotionless killing-machine or a flower sniffing pansy boy (no reference to Quatre-he does not sniff pansies!)? A supersensative (eg Shinji from Evangelion) person isn't very appealing as a soldier. And Quatre is a lot tougher than he seems. He isn't a weakling at all. This is just exagerated in a lot of fanfics for character enhancement and story telling purposes. I think the responses above are ignorant (NO OFFENCE!). Please, if u do, disagree!

    i agree with darqpixie.

the GW boys are all possibilities of what a teenager (any of us) would do or act or think if thrown in a situation like theirs. zechs, trieze, noin and the other characters are quite very experienced already so they very much know what being in a war feels like.

ps neo that wasnt a very nice thing to say. but it doesnt matter.

I strongly Agree with DarqPixie i've seen alot of the Gundam series but it's looks like that you would defend them to the death just like me. Gundam Wings main charater are all connected and you can easily bacaese you can say you fave like mine is heero yui
and the Jackal's is Duo Maxwell, each of the gundam pilots have a dark past which they have to be very secretive about incase they missions get comprimissed.the comparsions between the gundam pilots is that they all come form the space collonies (a gundam pilot form each one) and have their own missions to mess up oz's plans etc. They ALL have DARK SECRETS and DARK PASTS the characters are so complex and intresting that you just want to watch and see them more & more to understand them better. If the people don't like the wing boys just because of that there must be something wrong? They all have individual quallitys that you find in a real preson that just makes you want to know them better. The gundam wing pilots also all respect their gundams and fight for the same cause. Gundam Wing is amazing the charaters are so indepth you have to watch the whole series to understand them fully it's got to be one of the greatest animes of all time. All the gundam plilots have a thing or a qurk about them that just comples you to watch more to see their dark sides. how could you not like them? I rest my case. :anger: :anger:

Good point Darqpixie, you have made me rethink the reason why they're so meaningless but now after reading your comment I understand them now.

    Thank you!

Gundam Wing should forever be in the classic section of animes along the other great animes of all time eg the fantatic and thrilling Outlaw Star but now just like Gunadm Wing it's spirits live!

The GW boys aren't pathetic or stupid, deep down they're just kids! They just have alot of responsibility and have their own ways of dealing with it.

Though Releena is a strong character, she's a little...well...obsessed with Heero sometimes.

I guess I've inadvertently caused something that might develop into a flame contest...

    Please listen to this *opinion*

I said, "Somehow I just can't like the Wing boys"

I'm not dissing your opinions with this... everyone has different tastes... I have only seen 15 episodes of GW (and a small smattering of it aside from that) I couldn't bear to watch it anymore.

Hypocritical? Perhaps I am. I don't like many people to begin with, how dare I say I don't like people at both extremes of a spectrum.

    *sigh*

I'm a Hypocrite because caricatures don't appeal to me. I'm a Hypocrite because you call me one. I'll leave it at that.

    </Opinion>

    I'll shut up now.

Ok I like Quatre. No he's not feminin, he has a heart and is caring. I see myself like him. I think he's cut and I think he's smarter then the rest. Yes I do agree with you about the others. I do like Duo too but you see he calls himself the God Of Death or Shingami which I think is almost like a psycho No offense. I like Duo but I feel calling himself that kinda makes you a little insane in my books.

Gundam Wing is very subtle. You need to watch the whole series from beginning to end, and see Endless Waltz, and read/buy Episode Zero, if you truly want to know the characters.

    I agree with DP.

And with whomever said a teenager thrown into that kind of situation would react. You don't need a degree in psychology to see that it might screw them up a bit.

Well, that's just the opinion of a Trainee.
