OUt of curiosity, how did everyone here get into Saber M? Gomen if this topic has been posted before... I know some of you have told me your stories, but I don't honestly remember if they were in a post here or in private IMs.

Well,I first saw Saber Marionette in anime club my freshman year here at Carnegie Mellon. At the time,I thought that it was a cute, interesting anime, but didn't pay too much attention to it. However, over winter break last year, my parents offered to get me some anime online. I initially wanted to finish off my Sorcerer Hunters collection, but it didn't seem to be available on Amazon.com at the time. I eventually decided on SMJ (at the time, only available on VHS). Needless to say,the rest is history. :D

InuYasha - and I have been a Lime fanboy ever since.

A friend of mine who lived in the apartment one door down was a fellow Otaku and invited me over regularly for anime nights. One day he insisted I watch SMJ. I only saw the first two episodes (and incidentally I thought Hanagata was creepy and disgusting *L* go figure!) but something about it moved me enough to buy the entire series on VHS (still not sure what). When I got back from my internship last August, I watched all of it on a whim and...

As for me and sis, we were introduced to Saber Marionette by our cousin. Her High School had an anime club and was always bringing in new animes for all of us to watch. Then suddenly, she asked us if we've watched Saber Marionette before and said that it was VERY VERY humorous. And..she got hold of a copy of SMJAgain on tape, so we borrowed it. The first time we saw it, we thought it was soooo hecka funny!!!!! We didn't know the background of it, but we still enjoy it. WHO COULD'VE GUESS WE BOTH ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO INTO SABER MARIONETTE?!!! IT RULZ! I mean, even though my friends at school haven't watched it yet, they all know I'm the SMJ otaku in the group already. It's a good thing ^_~

UK (UrashimaKeitaro) heard from a friend on IRC that it was cool, so he downloaded some. (he'll have to tell you the particulars) we watched a couple eps (incidentally the first ones we saw were 1 and 2 of J 2 X, oddly enough) I think he must have figured out that's not where it all began, so he downloaded more and we watched them as they cam in, and loved them. The series just got better and better. Went from mindless comedy (well, not really) to having an overarching plot that was pretty cool.

    And there you have it.

been about two and a half years now..would have been right before I started using this nic actually. Imagine that.

    'twas What started it all...

Didn't really think of Anime as much quite some time ago. It had that foreign feel to it, which did tend to draw me in, but each and every time I gave one a chance, it tended to turn me back the other way...

The broadcast version of Sailor Moon (which swept over my younger sister) was far too corny for me, and as such became one of my insults against her...

...Followed by DBZ, which I admit wasn't too bad early on...but just bored my sickly after about half a season's worth...

And then there were random showings and movies prompted by That guy! (borrowed from Ser's extensive collection, of course) that seemed to just not really give off the same enjoyment to me that they did to him...

But, what's a person to do...awake at night when everyone else has nodded off? There, sitting neatly by the VCR was a box filled to the brim with something called "Saber Marionette J"... it seemed like a stupid title, but eager to have something to pass away the night (since sleep is sometimes underrated! :p), me pops in the vid and views the first episode...

WHAM! It engrosses me (that's 'engrosses', not 'grosses' for you fast readers)! It stood out so much more than anything I had seen until then, combining sci-fi (machines and spaceships) and humor (oi! Lime had me gasping for breath early on from laughing!) with an intriguing subplot (Tama, Baiko and the Gartlant spy)... I didst not want to stop, fearing I'd never see the entire thing if I didn't watch it all that night!

By the time daylight creeped in through the windows, I had delved up to the 11th episode, and it still wasn't letting up! However, I more or less had to go, and despite still reeling inside from insane laughter, I figured it was the end. I desperately grabbed for straws, asking how long the series was and such...

In the passing weeks, I more or less begged to see the rest... and ended up getting guy into a mess of trouble with Ser I suppose... but I did it! J and J Again.... and I'll never be the same!

    END TO BEGINNING

After that, I realized that there were plenty of venues to continue looking for Anime, and that it was more of an individual interest for it taht would drive me to see more... I think.

    -Thus ends my tale-

BakaMattSu, one day may regale his story of how he manages to live the J to X ordeal...

Actually, this one's fairly recent....maybe I should pull out some really moldy ones, like "How do you say?" or "The Terra II Awards"...

BakaMattSu, any excuse to raise his post total ever higher!
