Sound Creature - 1st Translation

This morning, just now, I have received the first translation of Sound
Creature from my brother.
It is excellent! It needs a little fine tuning (mostly spelling), because he
does not understand alot of the electonics/synthesizer terms, but I
understand them very well, and can easily see what is being said, so I will
complete that part myself this evening and post the results to all. I plan
to integrate the original graphics and english text together to match the
format and layout of the original documents as closely as possible.

Its just page 1 at the moment, to quote my brother 'I thought this would be
easy, but I don't understand what they are talking about in both English or
Japanese'. Its interesting, becasue to me the text reads perfectly, just a
few spelling mistakes. So he has basically translated phonetically what some
of the words 'sound' like, without understanding them, and well, if you *do*
understand the word in English, it makes perfect sense.

So there we are, part 1 or 7 on its way ...

Here's a snippet to wet your appetites (I have not 'adjusted' the english
yet on this, so you can see his exact translation. A good example of him
just using the phonetics is the word 'synthasaiza', which is of course
'synthesizer':

1. music synthasaiza : A device that turns out different sounds, by setting
each individual circuit of the "height of the sound", "sound timbre", "sound
volume", etc, and combining them.

The most basic of these circuits are the following.

VCO : This is the most important basic sound of the oscilator. by changing
the voltage, the pitch can be changed, and a scale can be turned out.

VCF : this is a filter to change the timbre. by changing the voltage, there
is a change in the way the filter works, so the timbre can be changed.

VCA : Amplifier that changes the volume. by changing the voltage, the
strenght/size of the sound is changed.

Envelope generator : The circuit where the beginning and end of sounds, like
the continuous sound of the violin, and the attenuating sound of the piano,
are set by changing the voltage

key board controller : key board that makes the voltage corresponds to a
scale.

how these 5 basic circuits are put together are shown in the following.

Hey Lance,

This is just so amazing, whatever the rest of it turns out to be, it's
great just to have this insight into what Sound Creature (and Tomita) is
all about.
Yes it makes sense that there would be some technical words that would be
brought into the Japanese languge phonetically just as this happens
between other languages. These would be difficult for a translator to
understand unless he knew the terms of synthesizer technology. His phonetic
interpretation back into english could make them puzzling. If you need any
help with any of this, let us know!

This Kinda reminds me of A Christmas Story when the kid gets his Secret Decoder Ring only to
translate it and find out that it says "Drink Ovaltine". Just a humorus connection I made
between this translation and that movie.......
He's basically giving everyone a quick lesson in synthesizers in the liner notes (it looks like......)
