    Hi all,

Well, slowly but surely we are progressing...

The next page is up, some intersting bits on the use of the mellotron.

Because right now you can get a software (called Mellotronsoft, I think) for around $39-
that contains all the different sounds (and more) of the Mellotron - without having to
have the huge beast in front of you.

Then again, maybe "the huge beast" was one of it's greatest assets?

    :)

    Kevin

P.S. Thanks again Lance (& the translator) for your awesome efforts!

this is the best received software version
    http://www.gmediamusic.com/gforce/m-tron/index.html

its more like $69 I think, but you get the idea, there is a whole disc
full of the samples. They give you attack and decay oparameters the
original didn't have so you are on your way, then again Tomita used some
    beautiful effects on his.

What you don't get with the emulation is that the performance of a real
Mellotron is by no means consistant. Thats quite a bit of the charm
right there. It's an interesting hybrid in that it sounds more "real"
than a synth yet you are subtly reminded its not a real acoustic
instrument by a lot quirks and general inexpressiveness (unless you
further process the sound). The real thing will be somewhat "off" from
perfection but not be consitantly the same amount. A sample is going to
"fix" the sound some how. Either it will fix the sound making ot too
perfect, or it will capture the innaccuracies well, but repeat what same
quirks that only happened one time ad infinitum.

  5. the sound quality of Mike Pinder's Mellotron cd rom
disc is much better than M tron from what I hear.I
have the cd rom and an Emu E4K full of the tron
    library which is fantastic.Available at
    www.mellotron.com website
but it's a lot more money than the software tron.It
also contains the Chamberlin library. Charles
