Anime Sousei no Aquarion (Holy Genesis Aquarion)

Just finished watching episode 9. This really is a must see anime if you like Mecha animes with great stories and animation. It has an extaordinary RahXephon feel to it.

Story:

The wingless ones, (ordinary earthlings) are being used as energy for a fallen angel race. It's up to gifted element users to fight them using 3 mecha aquarions, which can unite together to form a larger Aquarion.

What I like about the story is that there are many element users, not just 3 -5, and that when combining the 3 smaller mecha, they can form various different shapes based on what is needed against a certain enemy.

What I also find interesting, is that each element user has a gift and can use this ability in mecha. For example, Pierre has a Fire soccer-type kick outside of mecha and those attacks can be used in Aquarion form, but depending on his mecha location as well. Silvia has psychokinesis, and can use this as well to manipulate and move objects while in mecha.

What I also like, is there is some history behind what is happening. 12,000 years ago, the earth faced the same problem with this fallen race of angels. Apolonius, the winged, fire warrior, along with his beloved Seria, saved the earth and ended the reign of these angels. Elemental users had been searching for the reincarnation of Apollonius, the Solar Wing, he is called. The show starts off with the introduction of Apollo, who is deemed to be the Legendary Solar Wing.

Only downside is it's Media Factory release, so it may be difficult for some people to find the subs.
