Thanks :D I was inspired to do this by Tolkien, the writer of Lord of the Rings, he made up Elvish.

I also have a guide of female names from bach then that I amde. Like Ashita means Never Dead (to show the soul will never die) and Hodango (which is my favorite, it means when the stars and sky meet).

Oh, you made a language (well like a language) too? Can I see? Please? :D

Here the alphabet though, it looks bizzar here but written it looks cool (or so I think :) )

Oh and its not Islandic, its pronouced Jee-slan-DIC, kinda french sounding.

The language looks a lot like Japanese (or like Korean, since Korean language uses l's and ng's). And did you know that ashita is the Japanese word for "tomorrow"? But it's an interesting concept, to make up your own language.

A good suggestion: come up with suffixes and prefixes as well. You know, to have the effect of adding "-ing" or "-ed" to the end of verbs.

Actually for -ing you add -nil and for -ed you add -oyo ~_^

This language was actually inspired GREATLY by Japanese. Hodan for example, Hoshi is star, Hodan is star. Tsuki is moon, so Tsuwo is moon. And Asa is comingly used in gril names for 'Morning' so Sun is Asawa.

Hey I didn't know Ashita meant tommorow! Cool, I just racking my brain for a name for the character and then I thought, well she's an acient so lemme look back at history... and first thing that came to my mind was Ashitaka. He was part of the Ainu clan and that was my original idea but I thought, nah, she needs to be much older so I just took off the ka and I liked how it sounded.

Keke, the male version of Ashita was Ashito. ~_^ O and a are commonly used for femine and musculine, tho, thye are usuaully po and pa in the language. (Papayu is mother, Popoyu is father ~_^)

I actually made this whole thing in an hour, and I've added alot more to it. I've even begun to write some songs in it. :D

My mom said it sounded Native. @_@ I didn't even intend on that.

This should be add a great depth to your story, and I hope to read it if it is to be posted on this site. Just make sure that it is used enough to make a difference of features in the story, but not enough to slow down readers trying to get to the point of the story. You probably already had that in mind though.

Thanks, and yeah it would add alot of depth. Tolkien made up Elvish for LotR and how did that end up? Kekeke, with people memorized the language by heart and then going and writing poems in it! I'm serious! I even know a girl in my class, she can write in japanese, she speaks some french (she says it's a boring language tho) and in science class she's like "Hey, Mr. *insert my teacher's name* can I write my homework out in elvish?"
    Teacher: NO!
Girl: Can I write this in my own language
Teacher: No for I know you could be saying some thing bad about me!
Friend: Yeah she was like cussing at me before in this whacked up language of hers.
Girl: Oh shut up! Well, cna I write it in another language? Cause I can.
Me: Can I write it in my language?
Teacher: *gets fed up and writes English only on the broad above the assignment. Starts laughing*
    Girl: Drats.
Me: Can I still write it in my language? Pretty please? :D

Lol, and then there's a girl I know on the internet, janelle, or Miakashi, she wrote the Sailor Moon Trilogy and for Sailor Moon Genesis she made up an acient tongue (mine isn't inspired by hers, they sound nothing alike, they have things like Xthanye, blah, blah, oh well, it does take place in the silver millennium)

I wouldn't use too much tho, there's only one character that uses it, and she can barely remember it all, she only spoke it like, 7000 years ago. :dizzy2:

Yay, I'm glad people like the idea. Yay! I'm so happy! n_n

Well done Fushigi Rockna, i really envy your imagination. One question isnt it gonna be hard to understand what people say in your story because they will use your new language? (do I have to study?)
When do you say you gonna post that story?
Abd didnt you say that you were going to read some of mine too?:sweat2: Cuz me have posted a small story (but the BIG story will of cuz be better...)

    I know, me gonna read it, me just VERYYYYYYYYY slow with getting to things. ^^;

Actually, only ONE character uses it, well Ruri (not from Nadesico, ~_^) uses it, but that's becaus eshe lived during that time, she was cursed with eternal youth and immortality, at the same time, (it was a punishment). Poor girl. T_T But she's like the spoiled little brat from hell tho. n_n

I'll post it eventually, once I finish the first episode/chapter.

Very kewl! If you guys are as interested in languages as I am, you should read Tolkien's biography! I learned some words I didn't even know existed in english so...

Like 'philologist' (yes, it's spelt properly!) is somebody who has interests in language, so hello, you bunch of philologists!

Before I make up my own language, I want to learn at least one root language for each 'sort' of language.

So far, I know English, French, Spanish and a little bit of Japanese (maybe 200 words) and a little bit of Chinese (more like 20 words) and 5 words in Korean :p. So, I still have a long way to go before creating my own language.

I find your alphabet really interesting, Artemis, and this language is great! I know I have a link to an Elvish-English dictionary here somewhere...^_^ I want to write my homework in elvish!!

Tbh, Tolkien didn't create a language. Elvish is just a direct translation of English. Doesn't count as a language :p

Grammer, oh god. Tis the only thing that really screwed me up in spanish class. Just keep this line my uncle told me and my cousins, in mind when you sit down to figure out the grammer "Keep it simple stupid!" (I'm not calling anyone here stupid, i'm sure that everyone who reads this will figure that out. But I like to make sure:p )
