I just got the first two volumes last Friday and I'm... quite happy about it (even though I can't read Japanese very well). The art is wonderful!

Has anyone else seen the manga? It's far more ecchi then the series (uh... endowments flying all over the place and such) and it has some interesting new characters too. For example, it seems there's a pink haired guy with glasses who Faust turns the saberdolls over to... from what I can tell though, the plot pretty much follows the anime with a few minor differences.

~ Lady Aoi; and Hanagata is HOT in the manga! *fans herself*

yo! I've seen the first four manga. I believe there are 5. Yes, its a bit 'ecchi' and well, thought this was brought up.. gotta love Hanagata's Marionette... there goes Hanagata flying...

if memory serves me correctly, the two page image where all 6 Marionettes are naked to surprise Otaru, was censored in Korean versions by drawing them in bathing suits.

The anime was surprisingly un ecchi considering.. all until J Again of course [IMG] I'd have to get a better look at the manga. The few shots i have seen of it looked rather.. different. is the style different much from the anime do you think?

Yes, the style is very different. The characters in the Manga are a little more... well, for lack of a better word, cartoon-like. Characters are less proportional (skinny, s-k-i-n-n-y arms, huge, h-u-g-e uh... bosoms) and there are a lot of wild takes (eg big eyes, chibis, nosebleeds, stick figures, etc.). The lines are a little softer than they are in SMJ to X too (and for that matter, characters aren't as deformed). Surprisingly, everyone looks very cute. Far cuter than they do in the anime, in fact. And that's saying a lot.

Ne, MamiyaO... SMJ Again? Ecchi?! Ok ok, the scene with Luchs, Bloodberry and Panther all gung-ho to flash Otaru was a bit on the uh...the uhh side, but it's nothing compared to the manga (where Faust seems to enjoy squeezing his marionettes chests like the proverbial roll of Charmin).

And Hanagata is just adorable!! But man are his arms skinny!!

~ Lady Aoi; and he has black tights too...

Yes it's all relative. J to X had nothing on R for example. Charmin.. LOL

    Really? That's such a shame! Well I got one and two off ebay a little while ago and I know you can order all of them from these wonderful people;

    http://www.sasugabooks.com/

It's a bit expensive (I'm paying about 30 bucks for the next three) but well worth it.

Hey, welcome to the boards, btw. I don't think I've seen you anywhere else on mangatoanime and it's always nice to have more SMJ fans here.

~ Lady Aoi; And Hana's so cute in the manga *dies*

Thanks for the welcome. I just started tonight/today. I just couldn't resist commenting on Hanagata's "Special Item" so I registered and posted. I've also been lurking on fanfiction.net (where I review as "theCarlinist").

Also, thanks for the tip on where to find SMJ manga.

    I don't suppose you'd have a scanner, Lady A?

Anyone else up for a Saber Marionette Manga Translation Project?!

BakaMattSu, hey, it was worth a shot...

I've been looking for translations of the manga, and there're none to be found.
I wouldn't mind joining in the fun in translatin' action too!

Errrr... how are you translating it though
    *everyone falls over*

Apparently, they are scanning the manga in and editing it with some sort of Photoshop-esque tool. They asked me to help with translation as well (Matt sent me an e-mail).

InuYasha - hoping that his Kanji knowledge will be sufficient
