His name's Roy...something. It may be cutoff, so I'm not going to guess on the name. But, would he perchance be the copilot of the fighter? 'Cuz, I don't know...naming the short kid Shin stands good reason for him to be the main lead...'cuz of his tough guy "bandaged because I'm badd@**" look and image.

The sketches look sorta like the VF-21 from the Plus OVA's though, prolly just because of the stance and the horn head. :D

You're either taking the piss or you aren't much of a Macross fan.
No one is sure yet as to what Roy Focker's role in Zero will be, probably test pilot as it's well known that Roy was involved in the development of the 1st generation of variable fighters.

The reason Shin is bandaged is due to a crash which he has, I'm far from sure of the details so I'll leave it at that.

Some of the VF-0's design is certainley similar to the YF-21/VF-22.
Another comment that's been made is that the head unit looks kinda like the head of the AIBO model Kawamori did for Sony :)

Nah, more like I don't remember Macross at ALL. I know I watched it, but I don't remember any of it because my whole first 7 years of life in the Philippines is a haze. Heck man, five years ago is a haze for me. :D

Personally I have no idea how Zero will turn out. I think it could go either way.

I mean, we all know what the production model of Valkyrie will be like, and whats gonna happen to the people on the island...

I've seen the trailer for Zero and while it's certainly pretty, there is no info revealed. Just a few shots of a Valkyrie flying and dodging missiles and some people talking about something (no voices other than a japanese male talking about something briefly at the start).

I *know* I'm going to buy it for completeness sake. Once I can get 7 I will and I really don't even like 7 all that much.

But Zero had better have some excellent character plots and some decent mecha stuff... I say decent mecha stuff because we can't expect too too much given the time period.

Eh, I'd say there's lots to expect, if only because they'll be lookin' like the gool ol' fighter planes of today, more than the space-fighters of the other series. That's probably just me though, seeing as I'm a Tomcat and Raptor fan. :D

Well, the original Valkyries were based off the Tomcat... the YF-21 was influenced by the Female Power Armor but at times reminded me of modern stealth fighters a great deal... The VF-11 had a nice design though. I wanted to see more of it...

Personally I'd like to see a short little Macross series done entirely in chibi... with the mecha being influenced by Spitfires, Fokkers and Zeroes.

I'd love to see where the propellers went... I'm guessing they'd have propeller beanies that threw grenades all about... :D

I loved the design of the VF-11, even if it was a pretty rubbish fighter. One of my biggest regrets is selling my Yamato VF-11.

There is a super deformed version of the original SDF Macross opening, if you havn't seen it I can send you it if you'd like, or just hosting it on my site'd be easier.

Heh I've seen it and that got me wondering what an SD Macross would be like...

I still wanna see transforming WW1 and WW2 planes...

And one plane that transforms into a carton of milk (+10 points if you caught the reference to The Munchkins Guidebook)
