Naruto Tailed beast extraction?

I was personally wondering exactly what it does.

It's considered a sealing jitsu.

The statue itself seems to symbolize restriction or sealing; the creature's hands are handcuffed, its eyes are blindfolded, and a bit is in its mouth, which falls out when the Akatsuki members are sealing a tailed beast. On the creature's blindfold are nine closed eyes (eight eyes in two rows of four with the larger ninth eye in the center), each corresponding to one of the nine tailed beasts.

The person who summons it doesn't need to be present.

Plus it is easier to pull out the beast once all Ten members are present. Though it is unclear wither or not Orchimaru created it.

We do know that it takes a while to pull out the beasts.

It's unknown if the statue serves any other purpose than to contain the captured tailed beasts. The statue apparently requires that the power sealed within it be balanced, as Kisame notes that sealing the nine-tailed fox before sealing the other eight tailed beasts would destroy the statue.

So far we know that it "seals" the beast. But what does it do? What does Akatsuki want with it?

Possible theories:

1. The statue could make the tailed beasts go back to their orginal form.

Though it is an idea the chances of that is slim to none. Only the nine tailed was rumored to be part of the Akatsuki. Just think about having 8 other powerful beasts to contend to.

Spoiler: Sasuke

Though the sharigan has been able to seal the charka of the nine tailed fox it is doubtful that it could control it all the time. Also with 8 other beasts.

2. Combine the beasts into 1.

What would make it actually support Akatsuki?

3. Give the members a tailed beast.

Great theory. Possible if we had a more understanding of the sealing of the beasts.

Though nothing has ever been said on it.

So far we know that there is a sacrafice but Akatsuki wouldn't have a problem with that.

It appears that it is needed for them to happen at Birth though. Due to both Garra and Naruto. So it would be a problem for the Akatsuki then.

4. An ultimate weapon.

I like this theory the best so far.
