Watase Yuu Works Tasuki

    What's so great about him?
    In all the Fushigi Yugi threads I read about him everyone says that he and Miaka should be together instead of her and Tamahome.
    I don't think he's that handsome anyways.
    Orange hair and fangs? Uhuh. Very handsome. *cough*
    Tamahome and Miaka make the best couple.
    Not Tasuki and Miaka.
    Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Tasuki.
    He brings humor into FY.
    I just don't see why he's so hot.

    Yes, I'd have to say he's a bit overrated. I do like him - or at least I did when I saw FY several years ago, I'm sure my opinions would change a bit if I rewatched it - but it seems to me that he's popular just because "OMG he's sooo hot!!1!" Since I already have to put up with that from 90% of the fans of my favorite anime character overall, it tends to irritate me when fandom resorts to that kind of shallow favoritism.

    And while I never really liked the Tamahome/Miaka relationship that much, I'll agree that they're probably the best pairing for either character. Tasuki/Miaka... No, I just can't see that.

    I also don't like the Tasuki/Nuriko pairing very much. It seems to turn up a lot in fanfiction, or it used to, and it just didn't seem very plausible. *shrug* Especially in rape scenarios. I mean, what the hell? Nuriko's power is super strength... he's probably the least likely to be a rape victim of the entire cast! XD

    For me, I liked Tasuki because he WAS the comedy. He isn't part of the (well, at least not ALL the time) "I aer do sacrafice for Miaka".

    He was a bandit, and that's what he did. He wasn't an overglorified mercenary turned Romeo like Tamahome. Or a closet-crossdressing, overly-sensitive (like Ross!) Hotohori. He was just Tasuki, a loud, brash, impudent, egomaniac.

    Which is probably why I liked him a lot more than most characters. He was just so much of a **** that I liked him. Then again, looking at some of my favorite male leads, like Ranma, Tasuki, Naota. They're all jerks with an ego streak the size of Asia.

    And personally, I like the orange hair and the fangs. They make him look badass...or, "hot", if you want to go with the thread.

    Yes, that's certainly a good point. It's understandable why many of the characters did that - what with her being the miko and all - but it got a bit stale. It was nice when characters spent their time being themselves, and weren't defined by their relationship with someone else (as happened with Tamahome and Miaka).

    Eh, I dunno. I need to see the series again... I'd be hard-pressed to give specific examples to illustrate my feelings about Tasuki at this point. XD

    Tasuki is one of my favorite charcters. I think the reason people think he should be with miaka is that he was so sweet when it came to her. when usualy he try's to act tough. Not to mention the whole ordeal with him and tomohome. But pesonaly is Tasuki was real i'd love to go out wit him. He's just my type i guess.

    i don't think that tasuki should go with miyaka. she's just too . . . too much tamahome.

    I don't think that Tasuki is hot, the only hot guys in Fushigi Yuugi (the good side) are Tamahome and Hotohori.

    And for someone who finally got the chance to see FY, I say that Hotohori is the one who should be with Miaka not Tamahome. And as for the comedy, Nuriko + Tasuki = rofl.

    Whenever these two guys are together, you HAVE to expect something funny comming. I like Nuriko, he is my favorite character (maybe because I am a yaoi fan :p).
