    Hi guys,
This Saturday, the 22nd of June, there's going to be a Tenchi Marathon in Maynooth!
Slydice is bringing his computer with a DVD player, and according to him, they are going to show the entire Tenchi OVA (both of them [?]) and a few of the Movies.

    Location:
    NUI Maynooth
    New Campus
    Computer Science Department
    Lecture Hall CS2

    Time/Date:
    22 / 06 / 2002
Slydice will be there at 9:30
    It's starting at either 10:00 or 10:30

    And bringing food is recommended.

I think all of us at Eirtaku should go... it should be fun :)

Thanks to Slydice for the info.

Well all those who live in Dublin or nearer.
Maynooth way to far to go. Especially if it's just for Tenchi.

Show something decent and then maybe I'll consider coming up.
Dublin is damn far to go just to watch Tenchi.

I havent seen any of Tenchi and I feel I've been missing out on something, so I'll go to it.
I hope that Mordeth, Nicholas D, and Ascot go too (and not just because they have some of my anime :) )

Sorry about the late notice guys

    The marathon starts at 10:00am

it'll end at 9:30pm (when security closes down the building)

The reason it is tenchi is because this is 4th marathon this year!

As regards the content, the person who is bringing tenchi has said he has:

"I have all the OVAS except the mihoshi special, which isn't in my box and got put in with Pretty Sammy Magical Girl instead and I have the box set of Tenchi Universe so there's plenty to keep a weekend going"

Neon Genesis Evangelion (original 26 episodes evangelion 22-24 were directors cut and death and rebirth)

Cowboy Bebop (entire series no film)

    All of Serial Experiments: Lain

As regards the future, I know there is plans for more anime marathons

Most like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Lain and Cowboy Bebop again

    Crest of the Stars
Hopefully the new Battleflag of the stars will be shown with it if it's out on time

There might also be a day of non stop films including princess mononoke

I'll try to have the details up in time

Well I just finished my exams yestarday. I'll probably go down in history as the worst prepared student ever to sit an exam but its over with and that's the end of it.

I'll most likely be able to make it so LOTerror I'll be able to return your anime, I'm sure your glad to hear. If you like you can keep the Macross Plus series as I'm going to replace it next week when it comes out on R2 DVD but I'd like Gundam back, if you please.

As for what you might show in the future, you should definitely show Crest of the Stars. It's a favourite of mine and I would almost call it the perfect anme. I don't know what it is about the show but I just sit there watching it and thinking to myself wow this is great. Apart from the first half of the first episode which had me worried for a while as I thought it might turn into one of those 'kid with hidden talent goes on to save the universe type show' but it turns out more like Star Trek only better. Anyway I have the first series, Seikai no Monsho, on DVD with english subtitles and the second and subsequent series Seikai no Senki I/II on unsubbed R2 DVD. I would have liked to have shown it during one of the showing in Trinity but if your going to show it some time in the future everyone will get the chance to see it.

If your doing anime marathons one of the best shows I can think of to show would be Berserk. It's one of those shows like Crest of the Stars which I think has something for everyone and does it all very well. It's very tighly plotted and would very easily hold peoples interest for the time it would take to show it. I have it on DVD so maybe sometime in the future you might like to show it.

I also have a lot of Studio Ghibli movies including Princess Mononoke. Actually I have about a million anime titles about 40% DVD and 30% for both VCD and NTSC, PAL VHS so I'll just leave it at that.

BTW. Does anyone happen to have SD Gundam in any format. I have been looking for it for a while. I can't download anything from the internet cause my connection is very slow and now that I have become accustomed to watching everything on DVD on a TV I just can't bring myself to go back to my PC. Of course I'd be prepared to make an exception in this case.

One more thing. Just how might one get to this Maynooth you speak of? Somewhere in the wilds of the countryside I expect, whatho?

    I don't know, to be honest... What I know of Tenchi doesn't sound appealing, and going all the way to Maynooth for a marathon of something I might not like is not really that wise... I mean, I originally thought of showing you all a marathon of Gundam, but I came to the conclusion it might have proven counterproductive ^^;;

I think you can take the DART to Maynooth.

    Good to hear, Nicholas D.
I have no idea of how to get to Maynooth either, but I hear there are buses and trains that go there...
I guess we could meet up in Dublin first...
I don't know if I'll be able to be in Maynooth by 10am tho, that sounds kinda early
BTW, Slydice, how many people do you think are going to go?
And Nicholas, did you like Noir?

Well as far as the quality of Tenchi goes I can only comment on the first ova and movie. I have them both dubbed and while I don't normally like dubs I rather liked the Tenchi dub for some reason, although I think I am safe in saying I'm in the minority on that. As for the actual quality of the show itself the ova is excellent and the movie a little less so but to enjoy the movie fully I would probably have had to have watched the the alternate universe series that followed the original. From what I have heard the rest of the Tenchi series don't quite match the original ova but are still pretty good with the exception of Tenchi in Tokyo which isn't supposed to be all that great, a bit stinky actually.

Maybe it would be an idea to show some other stuff as well, I don't know. Suggestion Hint, Hint -_^ , -_^ , nudge nudge, eh?
But maybe that is what your intending, is it?

I only watched a couple episodes of Noir but what I did see of it I liked very much. The reason I didn't watch the whole series is that for some reason, maybe my crappy computer, the audio was out of sync and as great as the show was I couldn't go on watching it. It has gotten me very interested in seeing more of it so I'll probably get the DVDs when they are released.

Well we've advertised it by email and on the local community forums here but it's still hard to say how much people will be there, seeing as it's the summer and a fair few students are gone home

from talking to people I'd say theres going to be a minimum of 6 people going to be there so far (not the numbers we got for the last few marathons but still decent enough)

To get to maynooth from dublin take the 66, 66x or 67a from wellingthon quay

For anyone out the west of Ireland I think theres a dublin bus which runs directly to maynoooth but i can't be sure

As far as i know those are the only direct bus services to get here!
