I saw it once, and I don't like nor dislike Antonio. It's one of those movies where it's great until you finally find out what the enemy is, cuz that mystery was one of the interesting things about the movie.

I agree with Seraphinx, the enemy thing was interesting, but why was it revealed so early? Other than that, i think it was a great movie. Although in one small part the rain goes upwards...

yes, based off of Michael Crichton's 'Eaters of the Dead' tis a grand movie, the soundtrack is wonderful and I loved the part where the main character picks up their entire language in one night.

Great movie. Nice to just kick back and enjoy the rip-roarin' action. Sure it has its flaws, but what movie doesn't?

Based on eaters of the dead (as previosly stated) which is based on beowulf

cant go wrong with a classic, as crichton proved

(the book was written in order for him to prove a point/win a bet he had with his friend)

It's been a while since i saw or read it but what i can remember was that the book was good-great, but the movie was disappointing (but still good anyway)

Well, I was a bit hesitant to see the movie at first mostly for the fact that my brother thought it was such a great movie, and let's just say I don't trust his judgement. I thought it was very interesting, and well done considering what it is. I then decieded to go read the book "Eaters of the Dead", which I believe was based off parts of a real Arabic manuscript from that time period. Michael Chricton mainly took the information recorded in it, elaborated, and made a complete story out of it. At least that's what it said in the foreword, I believe.

    actually i think it said:

he needed an observer, history already had one for him, it was just that he never actually went that far north (or lived 200 years to early/late)

as i said he then used beowulf as a basis but told the story from said observer's point of view

As was said, definitely inspired by Beowulf, at lesat htat's what I thought from reading Eaters of the Dead. I thought it was pretty cool to do a new take on an ancient work like that, so I rather looked forward to the movie. Then, like a sheep, after reading a few less than glowing reviews I never saw the movie. Should I? I mean I'm quite satisfied only to have read the book
