Initially, looking at the title isn't really a big thing. Players fight now and then... but when you hear/know that they're from the same team then you might start to look at it differently. Both from Newcastle United, both english, both good players... both red-carded. What was that all about?

To be honest, I'm not totally sure what exactly happened between them two. What I saw was Dyer refusing to pass the ball to Bowyer on a number of occassions, which prompts possible problems between the two off pitch. And basically at 3-0 down against Aston Villa on home soil and on the 82nd minute, both lost it and decided to box each other in the centre circle. Though it was Bowyer who did all the punching, both were sent off... probably because Dyer ripped Bowyer's shirt and the fact that 'they were fighting'.

The two faced sacking after that day's brawl, but the club has made it clear that they will keep them. The punishment's for Bowyer was a fine of £200,000 (6 weeks wages) and could face police investigation. Dyer didn't get anything but his red card was seen as unfair because he effectively did nothing but tried to fend off Bowyer, his sending off will be appealed. Both players apologised publicly the day after and even joked about the incident. Nonetheless both will miss 3 matches.

To tell you the truth, nothing like this....ever.

I've seen many fights in soccer, i can tell you that. But never (as far as i can remember) have I seen such a scenario where people from the same team fight, and such consequences....

I don't think anybody needs to fight in these games. But can you blame them? All the heat and pressure goes up to your head!

It was a rather big fuss up between the players, and as Shen said, things were rather hetic between the players on the field too.

Rumours said that Bowyer split up with his girlfriend some days before the game, and he was pissed before the game. Who knows.

Way to motivate himself before a soccer game. Not that it was intentional...and that I dont mind a little feud in the middle of a soccer game.
Things like this make watching the game on TV better.
You get the close up view....and thats the best in a soccer fight.

First time Ive seen it, I heard that dyer is trying to get his suspension lifted by claiming he was the victim. I think it was bowyer that threw the first punch anyway. So who knows what may happen...

Its just horrible...to see team-mates fight...during the game at least. It is really uncalled for.

Lets see what Newcastle does without the two....
