Well I recently recieved the rather depressing news (at least to a zealous fan like me) that the Inuyasha anime has officially drawn to a close, but from what I've heard it's certainly an uplifting ending! How they could possibly bring such a drawn out series with frequent background stories that definitely required closure to an end in the course of a two episode finale is beyond me, but through the grapevine I've come accross various reports of people stating the ending to be a very creditable one.

However, I myself haven't viewed the ending and thus haven't a clue of the events that transpired. I assume many of you *have* been presented with the opportunity, and seeing as I don't want to stumble upon a spoileriffic thread, I figured I might as well be the thread starter in the event that a thread title is misleading. Now I at least have the knowledge of which thread to avoid.....

So.....discuss your thoughts, speculations, or just fanatic squealings regarding the ending!!

well, i'm still in the shock that inuyasha is actually going to end. i mean, it hasn't even been playing or been existing for so long. like what, less than 10 years maybe...? anyway, when is the final eposide going to air in japan? ... oh well. can't really think of anything to write right now... i wonder if kagome goes back to her own time forever and ever and isn't able to go back to the feudal era...

The final episode is scheduled to premiere Monday night, 'Mashi. I was incorrect in assuming the reports I'd read regarding the ending were written by fans, they were just the opinions of the producers/actors and the like. Still ... *sniff* I'm definitely not ready :(

That would be the worse thing ever. They would probley end up with a Sesshoumaru fan and mess up the whole thing by adding in a new character(based on them self) and making them and Sesshoumaru fall in love.. blah blah blah...

And now back to the subject..
I really cant belive it. It is so sad that it is finnally ending. There will be no more InuYasha, Kagome, Kikyou, Sango, Miroku and that sexy thing Keade.
It it kinnda good that it is ending tho It kinnda moved slowly through some parts....but it is a bad thing that the end is coming....it would be cool if the last show was like a movie or somehting or it was like 2 houres long.
I think they should get all Kagomes friends from InuYasha's time be able to come in Kagome's time and meet all of Kagomes other friends. Most of them would probley frak out and run away from InuYasha with his ears and all..Miroku could find a *girl on the street* ;) on have her bare him a child well thats if he wants a child after they kill Naraku(thats if they kill him).

Well its so sad I can't think of anything else to say.

    Update:

Welpx, that's it. The finale is officially complete, and I must convey my disappointment. I have yet to view the ending for myself (if the odds don't look high for a dubbed translation I'll just screw it and buy the sub eventually, but I'll give them a reasonable ammount of time), but from what I've heard

NOTE: THESE ARE ALL RUMORS I'VE HEARD THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE, SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHETHER OR NOT THESE ARE SPOILERS. PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION JUST IN CASE.

    A. Inuyasha and Kagome fight together using the jewel shards, but Naraku is not vanquished by the episode's completion
    B. We still don't know who's with who - the series ends on a happy note but doesn't provide us with any closure whatsoever.

Here's what I have to say on the subject: NANI?!?!?! I'm angered actually, I mean I'm almost glad they didn't opt for the fairy tale ending involving Inuyasha + Kagome = love (and later babies, but that's opening an entirely new can of worms) forever and ever and ever (though don't get me wrong, I did want them to end up together, just not the conventional way... I had my own ideas for the series ending, but I'll enlighten you in the correct thread and save space here). But really, the entire point of the series (167 freaking episodes) was to destroy Naraku and his evil tactics and they succeeded in nothing! We get no closure, no guarantees that Inu/Kag/San/Mir even SURVIVED the final battle, let alone figured out their hectic love situations afterward.

However, this leads me to believe that the series is indeed waiting for the manga to pursue in a certain direction before continuing the series in season two - it's certainly popular enough. Pisses me off - actually - I would've gladly paid them (if I had the finances) to continue following the manga until it's completion, but at least we might recieve a more substantial ending.

Now that all my pissiness is out XD, I must say that the final ending theme (a rendition of "My Will" was absolutely beautiful. It included the entire cast of characters, even elements as minor as Hojo, Buyo, Miroku's badger friend, etc. The only downside to this was it gave us minimal screentime with our favorite characters, particularly Sango and Miroku, but who's complaining? After all, they've dedicated seven ending songs to Kag/Inu/Kik/Mir/San/Sess etc, it's actually rather nice to see Kagome's mother and Totosai featured in an ending clip.

And that's it for an update! Anyone else got news to share? *CIRCLE TIME!*

If you would like to know how Inu Yasha ended, go to http://www.furinkan.com/iycompanion/
click on "Anime" and then click on the "television series" and look for the episode 167. Im dissapointed with the ending.... Hope manga will have a better ending that will actually LEAD to something.

Well I've been contemplating the situation, and while I still can't say I'm pleased with the route they've chosen for the ending, I'll just have to accept it. There isn't much I can do, after all.

But honestly, I'm still frustrated. Inuyasha has meant so much to me over the last year, and while I'm not nearly at the obsession level I was a few months ago, I'm still emotionally impacted by the fact that they'd choose such an indirect ending with no closure whatsoever! I guess I'd based my ending around fanfiction (decently written fanfiction, mind you), since I'd read scenarios dreamed up by countless creative authors, each more believable and memorable then the last - which made me overestimate the series ending.

The thing is - the storyline of Inuyasha isn't all that complex or deep - but the characters (with the exception of a few) are truly works of art - most are realistic and dynamic with personalities and situations you can't help but pity/envy/feel something or another toward. I felt this way toward the majority of the characters - Kagome/Kikyo especially, and I endured the long series to see them mature - I wanted to see the direction their fates would lead them - how things would eventually turn out. And now, we can only guess....*sigh*

Even if the manga does provide us with a decent ending, face it, it won't be the same (at least not for me personally). I don't keep up with the manga, majorly because the characters are portrayed a bit differently and it's odd to read situations that I've rewatched numerous times - though in the manga the characters give entirely different reactions to this or that scenario.

I'm just desperately clinging to the hope that the plan for a second season will be reinstated, though initially I was appalled at the thought. Face it, the series needs closure - not something two measly episodes can give.
